Although I came to understand what it was all about, it didn’t mean I liked the process. So often, from the pulpit, believers make it seem as though this walk is all about being
blessed and receiving blessings, without suffering. Too often we don’t hear about the long suffering and what that feels like. The elders in Christianity don’t speak about the pain, the hurt, the loneliness and the falls. Paul said “For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.

Philippians 1:29 (NIV) The suffering is hard, the suffering is painful, the suffering is traumatic, the suffering is shameful, the suffering means abandonment, the suffering means betrayal and embarrassment. To be truthful, I was somewhat embarrassed to be at Marie’s, because I had pride, and that wasn’t good. The process was also about humility. Every time we go through a process or a transition, we need to understand what that process or transition is about and what it’s for. It’s always about purpose and pushing or moving you closer to your purpose. I was called to women who are going through a transition, but what kind of a transition, I’m not sure.

There are so many kinds of transitions we go through. There’s emotional transition, physical transition, mental transition, character-building transition, financial transition, spiritual transition. I was going through all of them. Why? Because of the purpose. The Lord needed to “process” me by working on my character for my growth and maturity in faith and for the purpose. The word process means “a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end.” My process was to achieve the purpose to which I was called. But there are levels of the processes that we must go through to accomplish this.I was at the beginning level. There was a process through the process. The transition I was currently going through did not look good or feel good, but it was for the good. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (KJV).

"I don't think we talk enough about the in betweens, The part when you know you want to change something but don't yet know how, don't yet feel strong enough, don't yet know what your first step is. So to the people in the in betweens, please don't be disheartened, please don't give up. You've done the hard part, now just take it one small step at a time." -- Anon.

This Chapter
"You're closing this chapter to open up a new story -- one filled with reflection and growth. The past was not a failure or something to forget. It taught you to get back up for the things that matter, to walk away when something or someone is no longer worth it, and to care for yourself, despite the nights when the darkness surrounds you. You are growing, healing, and learning. It is so beautiful to see how far you've come." -- Tiffany Moule

It was the month of July in the year 2012, when one of the greatest events of my life took place. I was laid off from my job of seven years. I had been in the same position since I’d started with the company. I wasn’t moving up, wasn’t advancing, there was just no room for me to grow there. Back then I didn’t get it, but now I understand why there wasn’t room for my advancement. I had outgrown the job. Not only that, I had outgrown the people, the company, the season. It was then that I started to realize what I really wanted to do, that realization came with the knowledge that I wouldn’t find my calling at the job I’d held for seven years. My time with that company was up. It had served its purpose and now it was time for me to serve my purpose. But where would that be? I had no answers, but the one thing I knew for certain was that I would never work for another company again. It was time for me to be self-employed.

When the storm hit, it didn’t just shake the foundations of Aretha Naomi Taylor’s home—it shattered the life she once knew. In the wake of physical destruction came emotional upheaval: depression, fear, and trauma that threatened to consume her. But even in the darkest moments, she was never a...
