I’ve been working on this solo show for so long now but there have been a ton of people helping me along the way. Thanks to and Art Group for pushing me to make the big odd thing I really wanted to make rather than trying to fit into a single form, thanks to for recommending me to which gave me the free space to try out a very very early idea, THE MOST thanks to for being a part of that first version and every one since, thanks to Katie at for to responding to my absolutely desperate email when I wanted to do a show before giving birth and recognizing how important this was for me and fitting me into a very busy schedule, (thanks to for recommending that I reach out!!) thanks to for watching early early rehearsals and insisting that I can be funnier and that it’s ok to just go for a laugh, thanks to for the most incredible Hung Up remix of all time, thanks to and for letting me go big on projection design and to for seeing that show and introducing me to and thanks to the dreamiest dramaturg for forcing me to write a real script and make a real character and to for pushing to me ask for more and reminding me that I don’t have to do everything myself, and to for helping me make bigger claims about my work, and always and forever, thanks to for not letting me cancel the show when I wanted to and for always talking me down off of a cliff.
^^just a quick reminder of how many people help make a tiny show happen. Also so much of making performance work is based on people taking a moment to listen and doing you a favor. I think about that a lot.

New residency program for writers!! The Amanda + James Catskills Literary Residency is a self-directed retreat in the Catskills, which provides writers with up to two-weeks of exclusive access to a two-bedroom home in Andes, NY. Selected writers can work on any project they choose during the residency and are not required to share their final product.

Amanda + James will select two writers to attend. You MUST be available for one of the two set weeks – May 2-17 or July 11-26. You can bring a significant other or children, but no pets.
Transportation is not covered and practically speaking you will need a car.
Alongside this residency, the selected writers will be asked to engage with Amanda + James’s performances over the course of one year (2026/2027 season). We ask you to:
1. Attend at least three A+J performances over the course of the year of your residency. Two tickets per performance will be comped.
2. Write an essay (at least 1,000 words) about the work of some A+J artist. You don’t have to like it. Genuine and thoughtful criticism is a gift to the arts and to artists. You will be free to pitch your essay to other outlets or to publish it on the new A+J Substack.
Honorarium:
$500 paid at the end of the residency, when you submit your essay.
APPLICATIONS DUE JANUARY 31. Applicants will be notified by the end of February.

PARTY DISH is a cooking performance and eating disorder exorcism. A woman prepares linguini with clam sauce for the audience while live-mixing a layered sound and video landscape that mourns, ridicules and celebrates the joys, necessity and pain of consumption. It’s a rambling lecture given by an unstable dinner host. It’s a party.
