Monumental Women Our continuing projects seek to honor women's contributions in public spaces.

Monumental Women was created as an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization in 2014 with the initial goal of creating the first statue of real women in NYC's Central Park.

Built in 1855, and originally headed by the great educational reformer, Lydia Fowler Wadleigh, the building at 34 1/2 East 12th St. has been landmarked since 1998. Now has initiated a campaign to finally get the it repaired.
