We are so grateful for our friends at New Haven Moving Equipment and Hartford Despatch for donating their time and space to The Salvation Army. Thanks to New Haven Moving, 200 mattresses were relocated from Camp CONNRI to Hartford Despatch for safe storage during the cold winter months. Thank you for being long-standing friends of The Salvation Army and always coming through for us!

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18

It is with heavy and saddened hearts that we at The Salvation Army in Bristol share the passing of our dear friend and volunteer, James “Jim” McAuliffe. Jim was beloved by all who worked alongside him, and he dedicated himself to ensuring that those in our Greater Bristol community were served with dignity and joy. His willingness to come alongside others and help in any way he could was a direct reflection of his commitment to making sure that no one in need was ever without support.

Jim will be truly missed. Many of you may have seen him during The Salvation Army’s annual Christmas Bell Ringing Campaign, dressed as Santa Claus. He was always excited to put on the suit and bring smiles to the faces of young and old alike, spreading holiday joy to shoppers at our local Walmart in Bristol.

Jim, on behalf of Captains Fitch and all of your fellow volunteers at The Salvation Army in Bristol, thank you, brother, for the moments of joy, laughter, and kindness you brought into our lives. Your impact and service to our community will leave a lasting legacy.

We pray God's blessing and comfort upon Jim’s family and friends during this time of grief and loss.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4

Celebrate the life of James McAuliffe and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
