Spooky season is here! While some consider cemeteries spooky, we know they are full of history and stories.

Last year, MSCF awarded a grant to the Bristol Historical Society through the Foundation’s General Grant Cycle. This grant was made from the Jim & Eleanor Frawley Community Fund and supported the Historical Society’s History is All Around Us walking tour. This tour brings guests around historic cemeteries and creates historical scavenger hunts to make history feel more alive! MSCF is proud to support historical and educational projects like this that engage residents in the history of their community.

Did you know? With your local library card you can borrow a pass to visit museums, theaters, and attractions just as you would a book or DVD! Some passes offer free admission, while others offer discounted admission. And these include places such as Beardsley Zoo, CT Science Center, the PEZ Visitor Center and New England Air Museum as well as so many local museums in our communities.

The teal bows around Bristol are coming down as September - National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month - ends. In 2013, Bristol resident Tony Lodovico established the Bristol Talks Teal Fund at MSCF in honor of his wife Judie who is an ovarian cancer survivor. The Fund’s primary purpose is to raise awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms by Turning the Town Teal in Bristol during the month of September. In addition to the awareness campaign, annual grants from the Fund may support such related purposes including education, research and grants to organizations supporting women and families affected by ovarian cancer.
