This morning at the Stanley P. Bitel Memorial Golf Tournament, Ben Wirth was presented with a $10,000 scholarship from the Stanley P. Bitel Memorial Fund at MSCF. Stan's daughters - Camilla and Darlene - and grandsons - Andres, Nick and Dean - were there to present it.

Ben is a Shelton resident who will be attending UConn in the fall to study mechanical engineering.

The Stanley P. Bitel Memorial Fund was established in 2015 in memory of Stanley P. Bitel, the founder of Rowley Spring and Stamping Corporation in Bristol, CT. Stan personified entrepreneurial spirit, continual learning and self-achievement, and this fund is created for students who embody these characteristics. A scholarship is awarded annually to a resident of Connecticut who is seeking qualifying skilled training in the manufacturing or related industry.

Congratulations, Ben!

A month after the Women & Girls Fund of the Main Street Community Foundation 's 25th Anniversary Wonder of Women event, we need to once again say THANK YOU to all of the sponsors and supporters of the event. We would not be able to do the work that we do and impact the lives of so many women and girls without this support.

We will be *officially* announcing the 2026 grants from the Plainville Community Fund in a few weeks, but in the meantime we wanted to throw it back to last year.

In 2025, a $2,500 grant was awarded to the Plainville Community Schools for their Nourish to Flourish nutrition classes for elementary school students and their families. This program engages families and teaches them how to prepare nutritious, affordable meals together at home. Nourish to Flourish consists of interactive food demonstrations and engaging nutrition education classes, including learning how to calculate the unit cost of foods and exploring the benefits of shopping locally. The program is not only fun for students and their families, but it also empowers them with new knowledge and tools going forward!

The Plainville Community Fund is a community endowment that was established in 2006 to enhance the quality of life for Plainville residents.
