Yesterday, our summer staff participated in Youth Mental Health First Aid training facilitated by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. In this training, staff strengthened their knowledge and skills to help ensure every camper receives the care and support they deserve.

At Mayhew, we are committed to promoting mental health awareness, support, and destigmatization. Investing in our staff's development helps us create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all young people can thrive.

Our summer staff has conquered the mighty Mt. Cardigan! 🗻

9 days until the boys arrive to the island! Counselors are so excited to share the fun and beauty of hiking in New Hampshire with the campers!

During the first two years, the boys (age 10-12) participate in a rigorous and vibrant 22-day residential summer program. From the first day to the last, the boys work together in small tight-knit groups, tackling physical, social and emotional challenges. For many of the boys, Mayhew is their first opportunity to find out who they can be and how much they can do in a setting away from outside influences.

Mayhew challenges and helps at-risk New Hampshire boys to believe in themselves, work well with others, and find their best. It is the only all-boys program in the state that combines school-year mentoring and a residential summer program for at-risk boys, tuition-free, through high school graduation.

All Mayhew participants benefit from regular mentoring visits in their home communities from Mayhew's team of professional outreach staff in one-on-one and small group settings throughout the year. The focus is on helping the boys apply the program ideals of respect, responsibility, community, and challenge to their lives at home, school and beyond.
