🏅Three-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer Rowdy Gaines said, “Stew, Kim, and I share a common belief that teaching children how to float on their back is the number one way to help prevent accidental drownings,” noted Gaines, who also serves as a board member for the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance’s Step Into Swim water safety program. “It just takes a few swim lessons to learn this life-saving skill."

Floaties Are Toys—not Life Jackets. ⚠️ Water wings, noodles and inflatable floats are fun, but they are not designed to keep a child safe.

For water activities, choose a properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket. Always check the label, secure every strap and make sure it fits snugly. And remember: no flotation device replaces close adult supervision. 🦺

Is your company, club or community organization looking for a cause that can make a lifesaving difference? 🐤💕

Drowning is a leading cause of death for children ages four and under—but it is preventable. Children who take swimming lessons are 88% less likely to drown than those who do not.

Your organization’s tax-deductible donation to the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation will help provide free and low-cost swimming lessons for children in underserved communities. Every contribution helps give more children access to lifesaving water-safety skills.

Donate on behalf of your organization by selecting “Submit as a company” on our secure donation form (link in bio) or If donating by check, please make it out to "Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation" and mail it to:

Safety Tip from Kim and Stew Leonard: PUT DOWN THE PHONE!

Drowning is fast. Drowning is silent. And it can happen in the few seconds it takes to check a phone.

Children who are drowning may not be able to yell, wave or splash for help. Whenever children are in or near water, designate one distraction-free adult as the Water Watcher.

Put down the phone. Keep your eyes on the water. Stay within arm’s reach of young children and inexperienced swimmers.

One moment of focused attention can save a life. Please share this reminder with someone who cares for children. 💙 Learn more at StewieTheDuck.org
