🇺🇸 On This Day in Military History 🇺🇸

On June 25, 1950, the Korean War began when North Korean forces crossed the 38th Parallel into South Korea.

More than 1.7 million Americans served during the conflict, and over 36,000 gave their lives in defense of freedom.

Often called “The Forgotten War,” we honor the courage and sacrifice of all Korean War veterans.

Established June 23, 1939, the Coast Guard Auxiliary is a vital volunteer force that directly supports the U.S. Coast Guard.

Their members play a key role in boating safety, search and rescue support, and public education—helping extend the Coast Guard’s reach and keep our waters safe. ⚓

We are grateful for their service, dedication, and the important role they play in protecting our communities. ❤️🤍💙

🇺🇸 Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Army! 🇺🇸

On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress established the United States Army, beginning a legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication that continues today.

Fun historical fact: the U.S. Army is actually older than the United States itself. It was formed more than a year before the nation officially declared independence on July 4, 1776.

George Washington was appointed as the first commander of the Continental Army, helping shape what would become the foundation of America’s military strength and tradition.

For over two centuries, Army soldiers have answered the call to defend our nation, protect our freedoms, and serve with honor around the world.

Today, we proudly recognize and thank all Army veterans, active-duty soldiers, Reserve members, and their families for their service and sacrifice.
