Tenor

As a kid, I had a pretty clear picture of what I wanted my life to look like, but I never imagined singing would become such an important part of it. I don't have formal vocal training, and when I gathered up the courage to join my first church choir in 2013, I knew almost nothing about music.

I still remember being asked what part I sang and realizing I didn't even know what a tenor was. I just knew I loved to sing. That love led me to sing with two different church choirs between 2013 and 2019, where I learned by listening, asking questions, and simply showing up.

When I moved to Washington, I missed being part of a choir. Singing is more than a hobby for me; it makes me feel alive. After moving to Kitsap with my husband, I stumbled upon the Symphony Chorale. I almost talked myself out of auditioning, but I'm grateful I didn't.

I'm incredibly thankful to sing alongside such talented musicians who have strengthened me as a singer, and for LeeAnne, whose exceptional direction, encouragement, and confidence in me have helped me grow beyond what I imagined. My favorite part of choral singing is when a multitude of voices blend together into something so beautiful it gives me chills. It's a feeling that's hard to describe, but one I'll never stop chasing.

Tyler Lunde, Chorale Tenor

FEATURE FRIDAY:

Michelle Verlander
1st and 2nd Violin
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Music has always been a profound source of joy in my life. My journey began in the third grade when a family friend gifted my parents a violin.

Since I already owned my instrument, my school allowed me to join the orchestra a year ahead of my peers. I have fond early memories of accompanying my mother on the organ during family events and holiday gatherings.

While I appreciate solo practice, I find a unique fulfillment in the collaborative spirit of an ensemble. My first orchestral experience was with The Little Symphony, the training group for the Seattle Youth Symphony. Beyond classical music, I also shared the stage with my father, playing violin and dancing with the Tanhuajat Finnish Folk dancers in Ballard.

Today, I am honored to perform with the Bremerton West Sound Symphony, and I hope our performances convey that same sense of joy to our audience.

Michelle Verlander, 1st and 2nd Violin
