Rockland Chef Brennan Johnson is coming this Fall to support the residents with sustenance so they can focus on their work and play. In addition to baking, Brennan has traveled to Japan and Oaxaca to learn fermentation techniques and explore the local ingredients in new ways. Welcome!

“I’m a traveling chef and writer drawn to regional and sustainable foodways. Much of my work happens through my own cooking school, Gentle Rhythms, in which I travel around the country teaching classes on baking and more. Having a space like Rockland to settle into and find my own steady rhythm, not just in cooking but in writing and more as well, is something I am already feeling very grateful for.”

-Brennan

‘‘One work alone communicates with its audience, collectively they communicate with themselves. Through the eyes of my ancestors I create what “was” and “will be”. -Prinston

Countdown to meet Grant Eadie!

Manatee Commune is the project of Grant Eadie, a multi-instrumentalist in the Pacific Northwest. A small obsession for field recordings, a foundation of classical training, and a fascination with the hypnosis of dance lead Eadie and his music weaving from the ambient and downtempo genres, to house and bass. Restful, detailed, childlike, meticulous, and unfettered, Manatee Commune has become an icon among the PNW for the liberated dance floor. After a four year hiatus, Manatee Commune released the full length album “Simultaneity”, a 45 minute meditation on minimalist house and ambient textures.

Coming to Rockland this October!
🤩
Juan Arango Palacios was born in Pereira, Colombia, and was raised in a traditional Catholic home. His traditional upbringing was cut short by a series of migrations that his family took seeking a better future. Juan’s family moved from Colombia to southern Louisiana where Juan’s sense of identity and belonging began to be skewed by his lack of knowledge of the English language, his unfamiliarity with American culture, and his internal struggle with a q***r identity. Juan graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2020, and has a painting, textile-making, and sculpture practice based in Chicago. Placing emphasis on color and composition, Juan’s work aims to create images and narratives glorifying and fantasizing the idea of safety and joy in a q***r experience.
