Action Corps

Action Corps Action Corps organizes everyday people across faiths, backgrounds, and political divides to change U.S. foreign policy and protect civilian life. actioncorps.org

Action Corps is a grassroots initiative to build people power in solidarity with people around the world. The organization is focused on U.S. policies in solidarity with people from Yemen and Burma, communities most affected by climate disasters, and low-income countries dealing with COVID-19. Action Corps grew out of Oxfam and is volunteer-run with organizers in 20 states. In 2019, Action Corps b

ecame a fiscally sponsored project of the Social Good Fund, which provides administrative services and legal oversight. The mission of Action Corps is to champion justice in solidarity with people most affected by climate disasters and violent conflict. We achieve this mission by bringing together diverse actors for humanitarian advocacy, connecting grassroots activists to NGOs, media, and members of Congress. What do Action Corps Organizers Believe? We believe that every person—no matter where they are born or the body they inhabit—has a right to the resources they need. Our beautiful earth provides enough food and water for everyone, but climate change, genocide, war and disease are depriving millions of human beings. We see our well-being linked to the well-being of everyone, and we envision a world where everyone has a seat at the table and no one is left out. We see the struggles of Native people, immigrants, refugees, people of color, women, LGBT people, and all oppressed people, rooted in the common enemies of economic exploitation, White supremacy, and patriarchy. As we unite with communities struggling for liberation, we remind one another of the common thread of humanity that connects us. Although our campaigns are focused, we remember our broader common struggle. If you would like to organize in your state or province, please reach out to [email protected]. What has Action Corps Achieved? Action Corps played a pivotal role in the passage of the historic Yemen War Powers Resolution to stop U.S. participation in the devastating war in Yemen. And we have secured key commitments from congressional leaders in support of the people of Yemen. For example, in October 2019, after leading rallies in front of their offices, Action Corps met face-to-face with Sen. Schumer, Senate minority leader, and with Sen. Jack Reed, ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and held a community meal with Rep. Eliot Engel, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Soon after, all of them, at our urging, released public statements, calling for an end to U.S. Action Corps also led the U.S. coalition that secured support for the 2021 historic issuance of international financial resources called Special Drawing Rights by the IMF, in response to COVID.

Action Corps deeply thanks Senator Welch for condemning sexual violence against Palestinians via Israeli settlers and Israeli prison system officials. Any foreign military unit which facilitates sexualized torture against civilians is in direct contravention of the Leahy Laws and should face consequences in accordance to U.S. Law!

Action Corps honors the life of Shireen Abu Akleh. Four years after she was killed by an IDF sniper, the U.S. gov has failed to hold those responsible accountable. Since her killing, 260+ journalists in Gaza have been killed. Journalists should never be casualties of war.

8 years ago today, President Trump withdrew from the JCPOA even though Iran was in compliance with the nuclear accords. Trump subsequently slammed former U.S. President Barack Obama for making a “bad deal,” now look where we’re at: begging to return to the same parameters that were already in place.

Our Washington State senior organizer Teresa Ngan often talks about going the extra mile for Action Corps. This weekend she literally did just that, participating in a race and collecting signatures on our petition calling on Congress to stand up to the president — to uphold the Constitution, end endless war, and protect people’s lives around the world by stopping attacking them.

If you believe that wars should not be launched at the whims of a single person, we invite you to join us at ActionCorps.org.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Lenten Conversation on Faith, Health, and Solidarity, “Connecting Faith and Action in a Global Health Crisis.”

We learned that nearly 5 million children died before the age of 5 in 2024, and that experts predict — in the absence of urgent action — spikes in malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis. We spoke about the role that resources from the International Monetary Fund () called Special Drawing Rights played during COVID, saving likely hundreds of thousands of lives, and how they could help address current challenges if released again.

A total of 64 people participated — way more than fit in our Zoom window for the screenshot.

We appreciated all who spoke, listened, and participated. On behalf of the organizing team, thank you for joining us.

Shout out to the event co-sponsors:
