🌸Around 30 walkers joined our Mountain Laurel walk on a beautiful afternoon at Red Hill Woods this last Sunday. 🌸

Board members Dave McKay and Lauren Brown were on hand to share their insights: Dave into the work of our Trails Maintenance crew with the Alaskan chainsaw mill, and Lauren into some of the history and botany of this beautiful preserve.

Thank you to all who volunteer on our properties and on our walks and elsewhere. And thank you to all who support the land trust financially so that we can keep these preserves and trails in good condition. We are very grateful to you all.

Thank you so much to the intrepid volunteers from Vox Church who joined the Branford Land Trust trails crew on Saturday for a work party at our Todds Hill property. Together, we cleared loads of honeysuckle, garlic mustard, mugwort, and autumn olive. Many hands do make light work!

Congratulations Tom Cleveland and thank you for your commitment to the Land Trust and to the environment!

Every spring in Branford, thousands of river herring push upstream through the fish ladder at Supply Ponds, following a migration route their species traveled long before roads, neighborhoods, or dams reshaped the watershed.

05/23/2026

Despite the rain, today the Branford Supply Ponds were stocked with large mouth bass. BCTV filmed it and a family that was there fishing got to join in the fun. There were coffee and donuts afterwards to celebrate! Thank you to Branford Open Space Commission for keeping the ponds stocked so that residents without a boat also have the opportunity to fish.
