Thank you to Erin Waugaman, Superintendent of Bradford Area School District for joining us for our October dinner meeting. Mrs. Waugaman’s presentation focused on the programs offered by the district to address issues such as homelessness and poverty. An eye opening fact discussed was that 70% of students in pre k through 2 grade fall below the poverty line in our district. We look forward to working with the district in ways to help those in need.

We’ve had a lot of new followers this week and we thought it would be a great time to remind the community who we are and what we value!
The mission of the Zonta Club is to empower women through service and advocacy. We envision a world where no women live in fear of violence, women’s rights are recognized as human rights and all women are able to reach their own potential. Zonta provides scholarships to young women at Bradford Area High School to help them further their education and achieve success and independence. We also support many local agencies and groups such as Care for Children, CASA, The Children’s Advocacy Center, foodbanks in our public schools, YWCA and the McKean County Special Olympics. With funds we raise, we are able to fill a need for these and many other local agencies and groups.
100% of the funds that we raise are returned to the local area. No monies are used for administrative expenses. Zonta Club of Bradford is a service organization, and we take great pride in using every penny raised to fill the needs of women and children in our community.

Kim Bailey, Reference and Instruction Librarian at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, was our featured speaker today, presenting an informative program titled "Beyond the Hype: Understanding AI in your daily life." The presentation explored what artificial intelligence (AI) actually does, where we encounter it in our everyday lives, and the risks and limitations associated with its use. Zontians gained a better understanding of how AI influences daily activities and the importance of using this technology thoughtfully and responsibility.
