The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation assists qualified individuals who are battling cancer. A cancer diagnosis changes everything.

And for many, it can mean the added stress of financial hardship. No one should have to choose between paying their rent or getting treatment for cancer. The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation was established to assist individuals who are undergoing treatment for cancer and need assistance paying their essential, non-medical bills. By helping with expenses such as rent or mortgage, car payment, auto insurance, electricity, and/or utilities, patients are able to focus on what really matters - getting well.

Thank you to the The Villages Competitive Pickleball Club for hosting the annual Dinker Social on October 26 and choosing to support the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation!

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who participated, an incredible $8,000 was raised to help provide critical financial assistance to cancer patients and their families. A special thank you to Foundation Board Member Maen Hussein, MD for representing the Foundation and sharing our mission. At this year's Crystal Connection Luncheon: A Circle of Hope, Healing, and Humanity, we are honored to recognize Puja Romero as one of our 2026 cancer survivor honorees.

In 2024, what began as persistent bloating and abdominal pain led to the discovery of an 18-centimeter mass and a diagnosis of Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her o***y.

A lifelong Southwest Florida resident and Mortgage Advisor, Puja faced surgery and chemotherapy with remarkable strength, supported by her family, friends, and colleagues every step of the way.

Today, Puja shares her story to encourage others to trust their instincts, advocate for their health, and prioritize early detection. Her journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance, hope, and a strong support system.

Puja's inspiring story will be featured in a special survivor video premiering at Crystal Connection, where she and four other extraordinary survivors will be honored for their resilience and courage.

At this year's Crystal Connection Luncheon: A Circle of Hope, Healing, and Humanity, we are honored to recognize Amy Joob as one of our 2026 cancer survivor honorees.

Amy Joob is an award-winning author, certified life coach, speaker, and founder of Amy Joob Coaching and Amy Joob Ministries. In 2025, a routine mammogram led to more tests and eventually a lumpectomy. Throughout her treatment journey, Amy relied on her faith, the support of family and friends, and a deep commitment to hope and perseverance.

Today, Amy is cancer-free and continues to inspire others through her writing, coaching, and speaking. Her bestselling book Arise from Grief & Flourish Again reached #1 on Amazon, and she is currently writing her fourth book, which chronicles her cancer journey and encourages others to find
strength, faith, and purpose through life’s challenges.

Amy's inspiring story will be featured in a special survivor video premiering at Crystal Connection, where she and four other extraordinary survivors will be honored for their resilience and courage.
