Since 1981, The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University has served gifted students.

Located on the Western Kentucky University campus in Bowling Green, Kentucky, The Center for Gifted Studies has been serving children who are gifted and talented, their educators, and their parents for thirty years. The Center provides exciting educational opportunities for gifted young people, rigorous professional development for teachers, and support for parents of gifted young people. Under the direction of Dr. Julia Roberts, The Center has become one of the preeminent advocates for gifted education in the United States. The Center believes that when gifted young people meet their extraordinary potential, our communities, our state, our nation—even our world—become better places. That is why each school year, The Center renews its commitment to encouraging excellence by providing quality programming and resources for gifted students, their teachers, and their parents.

Did you know that to attend the summer program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocoious Youth (VAMPY) as a 7-10th grader, you must take the ACT or SAT?

Kentuckians went to the Ohio Association for Gifted Children Conference in Columbus to present and network with colleagues in the field. The conference was great as were opportunities to network.

We are so grateful for someone as hardworking and talented as Nick Wilkins! What a great addition he has made to our Camp Explore, Camp Innovate, Super Saturdays, and the Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS) programs!

Students are taught that “can’t” isn’t a word they should ever use, but that they can always learn and keep trying. Juggling, stilt-walking, and the history of clowning are just a few of the lessons brought to our students by the wonderful Broadway.

For over five decades, Nick Wilkins has been spreading smiles as Broadway the Clown. Wilkins also owns Balloon-A-Gram Co. in Bowling Green.
