Johnson County Rangers

Johnson County Rangers The Johnson County Rangers are a group of western action shooters and an official posse of NCOWS.

We are a group of enthusiasts who love the history of the old American west (1865-1899 time period) and especially love shooting the old west six-shooters, lever action rifles, and shotguns of the period. In addition to our regular shooting matches, we occasionally hold long range matches shooting the big bore buffalo guns of the era. We strive for historic authenticity which is often quite differ

ent from the Hollywood cowboy. Our shooting matches are timed and scored but most importantly we get together to have some safe fun and tend not to take the scores too seriously. This IS NOT a quick draw competition and we do not allow modified "race guns". We typically shoot at steel targets with pistol and shotgun targets at about 20 yards and rifle targets at about 45 yards distance.

Confirmed earlier today, the range road is still has not been repaired and remains impassable. The next JCR NCOWS match will (hopefully) be in August.

Due to the heavy rains and resulting flooding, the road to the range is reported to be impassable. We will monitor the road conditions and hope that the road will be fixed soon, but as of now, the July NCOWS match cancelled. Should the situation change, we will post and email members.
