"By contemplating Mary in heavenly glory, we understand that the earth is not the definitive homeland for us either, and that if we live with our gaze fixed on eternal goods we will one day share in this same glory and the earth will become more beautiful.

"Consequently, we must not lose our serenity and peace even amid the thousands of daily difficulties. The luminous sign of Our Lady taken up into Heaven shines out even more brightly when sad shadows of suffering and violence seem to loom on the horizon.

"We may be sure of it: from on high, Mary follows our footsteps with gentle concern, dispels the gloom in moments of darkness and distress, reassures us with her motherly hand.

"Supported by awareness of this, let us continue confidently on our path of Christian commitment wherever Providence may lead us. Let us forge ahead in our lives under Mary's guidance."

Pope Benedict XVI, General Audience, August 16, 2006

This is a special feast day for the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. While the devotion to the Sacred Heart has roots in the early Church, it was popularized by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, VHM, a spiritual daughter of St. Francis de Sales and a Visitandine nun. The Visitation order was founded by St. Francis and St. Jane de Chantal.

All Oblates concentrate themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus every first Friday of the month so that they might unite their hearts with Christ and more deeply "Live Jesus."

The Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us that we are deeply known and deeply loved. Christ sees every joy, every struggle, every wound we carry—and He does not turn away.

As our nation prepares to be consecrated to the Sacred Heart, we are invited to do something deeply personal: to place our own hearts into His.

There, we find mercy for our failures, strength for our burdens, and the peace that comes from knowing we never walk alone.

Are you seeking a community that understands your story and walks with you toward Christ?

At Courage International, we journey together in faith, hope, and love—encouraging one another to grow in holiness and authentic friendship.

You are not alone.
Come walk with us.
