💙 Remembering Clausie Smith

Vaughn-Trent Community Services is deeply saddened by the passing of Clausie Smith, a man whose dedication to Bonner Springs and its people touched nearly every corner of our community.

Clausie spent decades serving others—as mayor, publisher of the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Chieftain, community leader, mentor, and volunteer for Vaughn-Trent Community Services.

Even after retiring, Clausie continued giving his time to the organizations and people he cared about. His commitment to VTCS was just one part of an extraordinary lifetime of service, but it is a part of his legacy that we are especially grateful for.

Clausie truly believed in this community and showed that love through his actions. He will be greatly missed, but the impact he made on VTCS and Bonner Springs will continue for generations.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. 💙

In lieu of flowers, Clausie’s family has graciously suggested donations be made to Vaughn-Trent Community Services in his memory. We are incredibly honored to be included in the remembrance of someone who gave so much to our community.

Today we were donated two full pallets of popcorn! The company decided to donate rather than return the product.
