At Neshamah Hebrew School, students are learning so much more than just Hebrew reading.

Each week, our students explore Jewish holidays, traditions, mitzvot, prayers, and values in ways that feel interactive, meaningful, and fun. They learn through games, discussions, hands-on activities, music, and friendships that make coming to Hebrew School something they genuinely enjoy.

Students are building confidence as they practice Hebrew, ask thoughtful questions, and connect Jewish learning to their everyday lives.

Most importantly, they are discovering that Judaism is something to be proud of, something alive, joyful, and relevant to who they are today.

There is a reason Jewish tradition begins Shabbat with light.

Before the prayers, before the meal, before the rest of the evening unfolds, we pause to mark the transition from the busyness of the week into something more intentional.

Light Up Shabbat is a simple virtual gathering where we light candles together, share meaningful prayers, and create space to reflect and reconnect.

For some, it is the beginning of a long Shabbat tradition.
For others, it is a first step back toward Jewish ritual and community.

Can Judaism adapt and still remain Judaism?

Justin thinks the answer is yes.

In this conversation, he reflects on a concern he sometimes hears: that if Jewish practice becomes too flexible, we risk losing what makes Judaism unique.

His perspective is the opposite.

Justin argues that Judaism has survived for thousands of years not because it stayed exactly the same, but because it maintained its core values while adapting to new realities, new generations, and changing times.

For him, flexibility isn't a threat to Jewish continuity. It's one of the reasons Jewish continuity exists at all.

Most people think forgiveness means saying the other person was right.

Judaism says something different.

The Talmud uses the phrase ma’avir al midotav — to move past a grievance.

Not erase it.
Not excuse it.
Not pretend it didn’t happen.

To stop carrying it.

Because when we cannot let go, something painful happens.

We build a prison to keep the person who hurt us in…
and then we move in ourselves.

Forgiveness in the Jewish sense is not about freeing them.

It is about freeing us.
