Celebrating a Historic Milestone for Family Child Care
Congratulations, Family Child Care Educators!
"Every milestone achieved is a reflection of the voices that refused to be silent, the hearts that never gave up, and the educators who continue to shape the future, one child at a time."
We celebrate a meaningful milestone for Florida's Family Child Care community. The passage of CS/CS/CS/SB 1690 – Child Care and Early Learning Services reflects continued progress in recognizing, supporting, and strengthening the vital role Family Child Care educators play in our state.
This legislation includes several important updates, including officially recognizing the term Family Child Care Home, increasing transparency within Florida's child care system, strengthening the early childhood workforce, and providing important homeowners' insurance protections for Large Family Child Care Homes. Insurance companies may no longer deny, cancel, or refuse to renew residential property insurance solely because a provider operates a Large Family Child Care Home in their residence.
This milestone is a testament to the power of advocacy. When Family Child Care educators came together and shared their stories, policymakers listened. Your voices were heard, and your dedication helped create meaningful change for our profession.
We extend our heartfelt thank you to the many organizations, partners, advocates, and coalitions that stood alongside the Family Child Care community throughout this journey. Your collaboration and unwavering support helped amplify our voices and move this legislation forward.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Florida State Representatives and Senators who listened, engaged, and recognized the importance of strengthening Family Child Care. Thank you for hearing our voices and supporting legislation that invests in the educators, children, and families who are the foundation of our communities.
Congratulations on this historic milestone, and thank you to every Family Child Care educator who spoke up, showed up, and believed that change was possible.
Together, we have proven that when we advocate with one voice, we can make a lasting impact for generations to come.
