As a community, we all play an important role in helping kids enjoy Halloween safely.

Here are a few things to keep in mind this weekend:
🎃 When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.

🍬 Consider non-toxic face paint over masks that can obstruct a child’s vision.

🔦 Plan costumes and treat bags that are bright and reflective so that drivers can see the child at night.

🛑 Don't assume cars will stop just because pedestrians have the right of way. Motorists may have trouble seeing trick-or-treaters.

🚖 Drivers, turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.

📵 Don’t be a distracted driver or walker! Keep your eyes on the road, not a screen.

Meet Bogart, the service dog for our amazing partners at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County!

We’re so happy to have Bogart be part of our Purple Pets for a Cause campaign as we wrap up Domestic Violence Awareness Month! 💜🐾 Behind every partnership is a group of people who truly care about making a difference, and we are so thankful to work alongside the incredible team at the Children’s Advocacy Center. The work they do for children and families in our community is so important, and we’re grateful to have them beside us in our shared mission of creating a safer, more supportive community for everyone.

Sometimes, raising awareness starts with something as simple as sharing a picture, starting a conversation, or wearing a little purple. 💜 We hope Bogart’s adorable face reminds you that we all have a part to play in spreading awareness, showing compassion, and letting others know they are not alone.

A big thank you to Bogart and the entire Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County team for being part of this campaign and for all the love, care, and support you bring to our community! We’re so glad to have you as partners! 🐾💜

📣 Let's CHALK About DV 📣

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we’re making space for conversations that matter.

At the Children’s Advocacy Center of Sullivan County, we know that a child’s safety and well-being are closely connected to the safety of their home and family. Exposure to domestic violence can have lasting effects on children, making awareness, prevention, and access to support so important.

Today we are joining our partners at Branch House Family Center to raise awareness about such an important topic in our community through chalk art located on our sidewalk. 💜

Our handprint tree is growing, and we’re so grateful to Mrs. Hyder from Sullivan East Middle School for bringing this beautiful creation to life! 🌳✋

This special tree is more than just a piece of art. It’s a reminder that every child matters, every story deserves to be heard, and every handprint belongs.

Our clients are invited to add their own handprints to the tree, leaving their mark on a space built on hope, healing, and belonging.

We’re also honored to have a handprint from our recent fall seminar speaker, Sasha Joseph Neulinger, as part of our tree! 🌿

Thank you, Mrs. Hyder, for helping us create something that reflects the heart of our mission. Together, we’re growing a community where every child knows they are valued, supported, and never alone. 💚

Another great learning opportunity!

In two weeks, as part of our 2026 YWCA Week Without Violence, we're partnering with the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking - CCAHT for a virtual Lunch and Learn at 12:00 p.m.

Participants will learn important details about human trafficking, as well as how to protect our young ones against risk and exploitation. This is a great opportunity for parents, educators, and anyone who works with youth.
