External parasites can have a major impact on cattle health and productivity, and new threats like the New World screwworm and Asian longhorned tick make staying informed more important than ever.

Join Washington and Sullivan County Extension on Thursday, July 16 at the Appalachian Fairgrounds, Building 1 for a free educational meeting on external parasite control in beef cattle. Enjoy a free meal at 6:00 p.m., followed by the program at 6:30 p.m. Learn practical strategies to protect your herd, ask questions of industry experts, and hear the latest recommendations for managing these emerging pests. No registration is required.

Camp is a core 4-H experience! Sullivan County will be camping in less than two weeks, as we are in need of adult male volunteer leaders to attend.

Camp is a great experience that creates life-long memories. Please call the 4-H office at 423-574-1919 or email [email protected] for more info on how to volunteer.

Sullivan County ⭐ Your next meeting is Monday, May 11!

📆 Monday, May 11th at 6:30 PM | UT Extension Office

This month’s featured speaker is Jason Duggin, University of Georgia Beef Extension Specialist based in Calhoun, GA. A native of Warren County, Tennessee, Mr. Duggin was actively involved in 4-H and FFA and managed a successful Limousin beef herd as a young adult. He earned both his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Oklahoma State University and is currently pursuing his Doctorate at the University of Georgia.

Jason oversees the Bull and Heifer Development (HERD) programs in Calhoun and plays a key role in several statewide initiatives, including the Georgia Beef Challenge, Georgia Master Cattlemen’s Program, and the Georgia Livestock Emergency Program.

During this session, he will present on heifer development—an important topic for producers looking to strengthen their herds. This program promises to be an excellent way to wrap up the spring series.

All are welcome to attend this meeting!
