Turning a tough situation into a moment of community triumph! 🏍️🇺🇸

When we heard that local veteran James Baldwin had his bicycle stolen, the members of the DAV Missouri Chapter 47 Dexter and Auxiliary Unit 47 knew we couldn’t just stand by. A veteran's mobility and independence are incredibly important, and our community always steps up to take care of its own.

Thanks to the generosity and quick action of our chapter, we were able to donate and present a brand-new bike to James to get him back on the move!

We are so grateful to everyone who helped coordinate this effort and stood together to show James that he has a whole community riding with him.

​We are absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news about one of our own. Rita Pobst, the dedicated Commander of DAVA (Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary) Unit 47, has been appointed as the new Community Service Chair for the State!

​What This Means for Rita & Our Community

​For those who know Rita, this appointment comes as no surprise. As Commander of Unit 47, she has consistently poured her heart into supporting our veterans, their families, and our local neighborhood. Now, she’s taking that passion and leadership to the state level.

​As State Community Service Chair, Rita will:

​Expand Her Impact: Oversee and inspire community service initiatives across the entire state, sharing the same drive and blueprint for success she brought to Unit 47.

​Bridge the Gap: Act as a central link between local units and statewide programs, ensuring resources, volunteer efforts, and support reach veterans and communities where they are needed most.

​Champion New Initiatives: Spearhead state-level service projects, advocacy programs, and outreach efforts that strengthen the bond between our communities and the families of those who served.

We’re excited to invite members of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA) to join us for a special Veterans Prayer Group at the Stars and Stripes National Museum and Library. This gathering takes place on the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 AM and offers a meaningful time of fellowship, reflection, and support.

Enjoy coffee and donuts while connecting with fellow veterans. The group is led by Air Force veteran Jeremy Graviett, who is dedicated to fostering a welcoming space for prayer and camaraderie.

Join us for a special presentation by author Terry Irwin, who will discuss his book, Sgt. Dinwiddie’s War, focusing on the heroic efforts of the 8th Air Force and their critical bombing missions during WWII.

After the talk, Terry will be available for a book signing, so don’t miss the chance to get your copy of this powerful historical account! This event is completely free and open to all DAVA members and guests.
