Yesterday, the maintenance and grounds crew employees at Michigan’s Adventure in Muskegon voted overwhelmingly to have Operating Engineers 324 represent them.

We congratulate these skilled professionals for making their voices heard and choosing the opportunities, representation, and solidarity that come with OE324. We are proud to welcome this group into the Operating Engineers 324 family and look forward to standing with them as they work toward a better future for themselves and their families.

Solidarity!

Today, the Gordie Howe International Bridge opened to traffic for the first time.

For the past eight years, Operating Engineers 324 members have proudly operated, maintained and repaired the heavy equipment used to build the United States side of this historic crossing. We were there for the groundbreaking—and really, long before that, during the planning—and have seen hundreds of our members spend millions of hours bringing it to life.

Our members built the ports of entry, worked on the freeways and approach roads, erected the towers and built the deck from some of the tallest tower cranes in North America. They drove steel, graded land, manned boats and performed nearly every other task needed to create this monument that will stand for generations to come.

We worked in tandem with our fellow skilled trades and, ultimately, met our Canadian brothers and sisters in the middle.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge has been a special project, a memorable project and, above all, a much-needed project. Today, we celebrate its opening and all the hard work that went into building it—from every union and every trade, on both sides of the border.

Operating Engineers 324 members:

Operating Engineers 324 and its Executive Board endorse Sheriff Chris Swanson for governor of Michigan in the 2026 Democratic primary.

Swanson has been a dues-paying union member for decades. He doesn’t just talk about supporting organized labor—he knows what it means to carry a union card and stand together with working people.

As Genesee County Sheriff, Swanson has shown the leadership and vision necessary to bring people together, take on difficult challenges and deliver for the communities he serves.

He understands that Michigan succeeds when working people succeed, and he has committed to:

Protecting prevailing wage and worker safety
Growing good-paying union jobs
Supporting registered apprenticeships and the skilled trades
Investing in the workers who build, operate and maintain Michigan
Chris Swanson has stood with labor because he is labor. He understands our work, our values and the families we support. His leadership and record prove it.

That’s why OE324 stands with Chris Swanson for governor.

Operating Engineers 324 members:

Operating Engineers 324 and it's Executive Board endorse Haley Stevens for the open US Senate seat from Michigan for the 2026 Democratic primary. Stevens has a long history backing union labor and Operating Engineers, and the work we do, in particular. As a Congresswomen, she supported and voted for the

- Bipartisan Infrastructure Act which put us to work rebuilding roads and bridges
- Inflation Reduction Act, which put us to work building solar fields and wind farms
- CHIPs and Science Act, which put us to work building the next generation battery and manufacturing plants

Each of these bills put millions of hours of work into our fringe funds and our pockets.

And she is a co-sponsor of the PRO Act, a bill to expand worker rights and strengthen protections for forming unions and bargaining collectively. It limits anti-union tactics, outlaws "right-to-work" laws nationwide, and imposes financial penalties for labor violations.

Stevens has stood with labor, the jobs we work, and the families we support. Her track record proves it.

That's why OE324 stands with Haley Stevens for US Senate.

On Saturday, Operating Engineers 324 was proud to host the American Cancer Society "Big Dig" fundraiser event at our Construction Career Center in Howell for it's 8th year. The event welcomes hundreds of families to spend a day letting their kids enjoy the construction equipment members operate every day, and raises tens of thousands of dollars to fight pediatric cancer! We even get some special guests - children and families fighting cancer themselves, and showing us all the meaning of courage!

This year's event was another overwhelming success. We thank our volunteers, our sponsorship partners, and the many families who took part!
