The donkeys are as sick of the muck as I am!

They told me (I speak donkey ya know) that they are not walking in the slop to get to their stock tank for water. Can't say I blame them. I am trugging through it 3x a day. So, I am leaving large buckets of water just outside their shelters (where they are pretty much camped out), so they can drink.

Did I mention that I am SICK OF RAIN??!!!

ATTENTION DOG PARENTS, who adopted Bo and Jacks brothers and sisters!!

Bo had a grand mall seizure tonight! He had a smaller one a month ago, and he took him to the vet then. Bloodwork came back normal. Vet suspected epilepsy and told us to watch him for more seizures. Here it is tonight. Sadly, we have experience with this, from a previous dog. We will be contacting the vet in the morning.

Please reach out, if any of Bo's brothers or sisters have experienced this. So far Jack has not had any.

Will keep everyone posted on the vet's plan for Bo, to manage this.

Mercedes injury update:

Y'all may remember that Mercedes fell on her butt back on September 1st, after spinning around and getting dizzy. By that next morning, she developed a hematoma on her left butt cheek.

It has taken awhile for the hematoma to strink down, but it is looking much better. Hopefully, this is the first and last time she will do this. Too old, at 28 to be dorking around.

Orange Kitty - final update

Orange Kitty crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.

After his trip to the Urgent Pet Care on Friday night, his condition continued to deteriorate. On Sunday morning, his neurological symptoms had worsened, and he could barely stand up or walk. Even with pain meds. His breathing was rapid and shallow. I took him back to Urgent Pet Care right away. They took him right back. The vet said that the FIP virus had spread to his brain and had caused irreversable damage, and that even if they admitted him into the hospital for supportive care, he would most likely not make it through the night. It was time to end his suffering, so I made the only decision I could for him. I held him while he left this world and went into the hands of God.

Thank you to all who prayed for him. The donations left in Orange Kitty's piggy bank went to his vet bills and cremation.

RIP Orange Kitty. Heaven gained a special boy.

Orange Kitty - Emergency Pet Hospital

I took Orange Kitty to the Urgent Pet Care in Omaha last night.

I have noticed a decline in his condition for the past two days. He has been lethargic since Thursday, and started to show some neurologic symptoms yesterday. Bad signs when battling FIP. The Vet at Urgent Care checked him out, and said that it appeared that his current medication for FIP had stopped working. Orange Kitty had also lost a whole pound in the past 3 weeks. The Vet recommended followup bloodwork, and syringe feeding him, since he was refusing to eat.

We got him home last night, and I put out fresh baby food for him. The nausia meds must have kicked in, and he ate. I made an appt for him online to see Dr. Little, at Arlington Pet Hospital, on Monday to get the bloodwork and discuss medication.

This morning, he is still lethargic. Syringed him his baby food, after his meds. He decided to rest in his kennel. More meds and another feeding at 5pm. Things are not looking good :-(

Will post another update, after our vet visit on Monday.

Please pray that he can pull through this set back.

Dentist Day for Rosco and Fancy!

Both Rosco and Fancy were due for floats and having problems chewing hay. Rosco had hooks and sharp points on his teeth. We also discovered that some on his bottom teeth were worn down to the gums. Overall not too bad for a guy 28 years old.

Fancy had the same hooks and points, but also a loose molar, which was crocked and digging into the roof of her mouth! OUCH!! Poor girl. Doc T pulled that out, so she should start to feel much better. Fancy is 25 now.

Thunder is doing carrot PT!

When Thunder had his teeth floated, I asked Dr. Thomassen, of Nebraska Equine Veterinary Clinic about Thunder's sway back (not uncommon in 28 year old horses). He suggested that Thunder do flexion exercises with baby carrots (you can use other treats too). He explained the exercises. Foster mom, Jani, has been Thunder's "therapist", and reports that Thunder has been a good student and is gaining more mobility :-). She also mentioned that he tends to be reactive to different objects, but is getting better. Most likely seeing things at his foster moms, that he did not see at his place.

Thunder is enjoying the one on one attention he is getting and especially the baby carrots. He gives Jani slobbery kisses to show his appreciation.

Apparently, Maybelle missed the memo about relaxing on Labor Day.

Here I thought she was napping in her house all day, when she was really remodeling. That would explain all the Amazon deliveries, lol! ;-)
