Olympia… it’s time.

We are officially launching Skoolie BAGS OF HOPE out of our Women’s Empowerment Campus right here in Thurston County.

💥 What does that mean?

It means we are stepping up to provide
👉 200 meals every single week
👉 Built by volunteers
👉 Distributed directly into our community to those who need it most

We’re building this just like we did in Pierce County—and we need a strong team.

We are looking for:
✔️ 5 committed volunteers to meet weekly
✔️ A Team Lead ready to step up and lead Thurston County’s BAGS OF HOPE

✔ SNAP / Basic Food Hours Count in Washington State

💡 DID YOU KNOW?
If you receive Washington State Basic Food (SNAP) and are an Able-Bodied Adult Without Dependents (ABAWD), volunteering can count toward your required monthly hours.

Skoolie Foundation provides verified volunteer opportunities that help you stay eligible for benefits while serving your community with dignity.

⏱ WHAT COUNTS?
To stay eligible beyond the federal time limit, qualifying adults must complete:
✔ 80 hours per month of one or more of the following:
• Paid work
• Volunteer (unpaid) work
• Job training or approved programs
• A combination of the above

👉 Volunteer hours at Skoolie Foundation COUNT when properly documented.

👥 WHO THIS HELPS
This applies if you are:
• Age 18–64
• Able to work
• No child under age 14 in your household

If that’s you, volunteering can help you:
✔ Maintain food benefits
✔ Build work history
✔ Gain references & skills
✔ Give back to the community

We provide:
• ✔ Monthly hour tracking
• ✔ Supervisor verification
• ✔ Signed documentation for DSHS
• ✔ Support submitting hours by the state deadline

Day 3 update, Our clothing department is coming together beautifully! Additional shelving risers have been added and securely installed, and we’ve made great progress with sorting, cleaning, donation pickups, and load runs. We’re also preparing supplies for our clothing racks, with even more progress ahead.

A special thank you to every helping hand that has been part of this preparation, we couldn’t do this without your support. We’re excited to continue growing our Skoolie community here in Thurston County and are looking forward to welcoming our guests this Friday for the soft opening of our Skoolie Women Empowerment Center.

It’s shaping up to be another incredible year! 2026 is going to be Amazing!✨

Day 2 for the Olympia Women Empowerment center, More shelvings are up, a lot of sorting done and more to go with lots of moving parts in their transition phases- We are excited to Kick Start the New Year during our soft opening for this friday from 9am - 6pm! stay tuned.
