WOW, WHAT A WEEK (2/2)

The second half of the week was just as incredible as the first half. All three House Night teams performed on Thursday night. These teams are made up of players who have completed Faraway’s Performance Path curriculum, auditioned, and committed to a season of performing weekly! Growing Boys, Zipper, and CRUNCH are amazing and if you haven’t checked out House Night on Thursday nights, you’re missing out!

After House Night, indie team Wise Investment hosted a brand new jam, Femmeprov, celebrating the women, non-binary, and gender non-conforming improvisers in Birmingham!

Friday night opened with an always lovingly absurd show from Middl ePart, and this incredible week concluded with Teachers’ Lounge, featuring new-to-Faraway player and veteran UCB improviser and actor Allan McLeod!

As we gear up for our fall term starting in just a couple weeks, programming will continue with Drop-In and Jam on Tuesday nights and some fun shows on Thursdays and Fridays! Stay tuned, and we’ll see you in the basement! 🦢

WOW, WHAT A WEEK! (1/2)

Summer '26 Performance Week began with a bang! Our Improv 101 students had an incredible showcase, leaving us all in stitches. Improv 501 students took the Faraway stage next, completing their Performance Path journey with some truly hilarious Harolds.

Performance Week continued on Wednesday with Improv 301. Wacky characters and memorable relationships made for a fabulous La Ronde showcase. Then, Stand-Up 101 students grabbed the mic and delivered sidesplitting sets.

We are SO proud of our Faraway students! The talent we get to see on the Faraway stage every term is mind-blowing. Rest assured that the comedy arts in Birmingham are in very good hands!

Class is back in session! Faraway Theater’s fall term classes are LIVE–jump on in!

🤣 101: Intro to Improv: Improv 101 is the first step of Faraway’s Performance Path, a series of classes designed to take you from improv newbie to powerhouse performer. After completion of the Performance Path, students are eligible to audition for House Night, participate in Advanced Studies, and more! Each class on the Performance Path culminates in a student showcase at the end of the term.

🎤 101: Intro to Stand-Up: This writing and performance focused class will offer students a kind and supportive environment to learn the basics of stand-up. From generating material, writing jokes, and performing live on stage, this class is ideal for complete beginners, dedicated open mic'ers, or anyone looking to get back into stand-up.

🤗 Joy of Improv: Whether you want a new hobby, need to get more comfortable with public speaking, or would love to shake things up a bit and meet new people, this class and community has something to offer you. Joy of Improv has no performance aspect–the class exists simply for you to try something new and fun.

🪂 Drop-In Improv Class: Curious about improv? Every Tuesday at 7:00 PM, we hold a one-hour, no-pressure, $10 drop-in class, followed by a student jam open to and FREE for all improv students of any school.
