Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign running through
August 31, 2026. Headlined by NBCUniversal Local, the 12th annual initiative partners
with hundreds of shelters across the U.S. to find homes for animals and raise funds
through September 15. Timeline: Adoption events run August 1–31, 2026; fundraising continues
through September 15, 2026.
• Participation: Over 1,600 shelters and rescues across the country take part, offering various
reduced or waived adoption fees and special promotional days.

Adopt: Search for available pets or find participating locations using the
Official Clear the Shelters Site or the WeRescue app.
• Donate: Contribute to shelters locally or support the broader initiative via the Clear the Shelters
Fund
