5 on 5 STMA YOUTH SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE REGISTRATION DEADLINE JUNE 1ST
Purpose: This league is all about bringing the community together through basketball. We aim to create a fun, active, and inclusive space where players can compete, improve, and simply enjoy being on the court with others.
Who: Boys Entering Grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade in Fall of 2026
*Depending on numbers you could play up a grade.
What: Youth Summer League 5v5- 1 game per date
When: 1:00-4:00pm -8 Games- Monday June 15th, Wednesday June 17th, Monday June 22nd, Wednesday June 24th, Monday July 13th, Wednesday July 15th, Monday July 20th, Wednesday July 22nd
Where: STMA Activity Center-5800 Jamison Ave NE, St. Michael, MN 55376 (Courts 2 and 5)
Cost: $80 per player-
5 on 5 Summer League Rules
There will be two 20 minute running halves. The clock will run continuously during the halves, except during the last minute when the clock will stop on all dead balls.
Each team receives 1 timeout per game, 1 minute in length.
Half time will consist of 2 minutes.
If at the end of regulation, the score is tied, one overtime period will be played for 2 minutes in length. If the game is still tied after the first overtime, then sudden death will occur.
7 Team Fouls will result in 1 on 1. There will be no Double Bonus.
Clock will not stop for free throws unless under 1 minute of the second half.
Players will not have an individual foul limit, so they won’t foul out in any game. Intentional fouls will be automatically 2 shots and the ball at half court.
No coaches are allowed in this league. Players will manage their own substitutions during games. All teams are expected to ensure fair and balanced playing time for every participant. Substitutions can occur at any stoppage in the game.
Uniforms-All players on your team must wear a similar color.
Light Color for Home and Dark Color for Away based on the schedule.
Game balls: 4th-6th grade= 28.5 basketball. 7th/8th grade=29.5(men's size).
Defense/Pressing: Person to Person ONLY. First Half- no full court pressing. Second Half- full court pressing- person to person only- last 10 minutes of game (unless up by 20+).
Substituting: Example if you have 9 players: Number the players on your team- 1-9.
Start the game with players #1-5, then after 5 minutes sub players 6, 7, 8, 9, and (1 stays in) then the next 5 minutes players #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, are in etc. Here is a sub rotation template sheet to help the captain/players on the team to follow with their subbing. They can renumber if a player is absent for each game according to who is there.
