Brother Ben Matthews’s last message on this series.

“Loathe” the sin that caused the drift. Ezekiel 6:9 is saying the remnant will hate the sin that pulled them away. Today, God is still raising up believers who: Are tired of shallow Christianity. Are tired of division. Are tired of compromise. Are tired of empty religion. This is exactly what many have been preaching: Never forget, it takes God’s leadership and guidance,
Ezekiel 6 is the Old Testament version of that same call. The prophecy ends with certainty: God’s Word will stand, Verse 10: “They shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain…” God’s warnings are real. God’s promises are real. God’s judgment is real. God’s restoration is real, God’s remnant will rise, God’s Church will stand.
Do we, as members of the Church, have any say in where the remnant will be? Here’s the clear, biblical, KJV‑anchored answer. Yes — but not the way some may think.
1. Jesus decides who the remnant is. The remnant is always God‑chosen, God‑preserved, God‑kept.“Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant…” (Isaiah 1:9) “Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” (Romans 11:5) The remnant is His work, not ours. We don’t vote on it. We don’t appoint it. We don’t decide it. Jesus builds it.
2. But we absolutely have a say in where we stand. This is the part some miss. We don’t choose the remnant, but we choose whether we stand with it. We choose: faithfulness, obedience, repentance, holiness, endurance, loyalty to Christ, commitment to His Church. The remnant is not a club — it’s a position. It’s the people who refuse to bow when the world demands it. It’s the people who stay faithful when others fall away. It’s the people who cling to Christ when everything shakes. And that is a choice.
3. The remnant is found wherever people stand on the Rock. Our message is built on Matthew 16:18: “Upon this rock I will build my church…” our closing can tie it together like this: Wherever people stand on the Rock, that’s where the remnant will be. Not in a building. Not in a movement. Not in a trend. The remnant is wherever people refuse to move off the foundation Jesus laid.
4. We don’t get to decide who the remnant is — that belongs to God alone. But we do get to decide where we stand. If we stand on Christ, we stand with the remnant. If we stand on His Word, we stand with the remnant. If we stand with His Church, we stand with the remnant. The remnant is not a location — it’s a loyalty. It’s not a group — it’s a commitment. It’s not a title — it’s a posture. Jesus is building His Church, then the remnant will always be found right where He is building. So yes — we have a say. Not in choosing the remnant, but in choosing to be among it. Stand on the Rock. Stand with the Church. Stand with Christ. And you will stand with the remnant that hell cannot prevail against.
Again, thanks for giving us this opportunity to share God’s word. God bless all. Brother Ben Matthews

Brother Ben continued message:

4. The Promise That Secures Our Future
Jesus said “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” — Matthew 16:18 That means: Devil & Hell will attack — but cannot win. Darkness will rise — but cannot overcome. People will fail — but Christ will not. Churches may stumble — but the Church will stand. The world may shake — but the Rock will not move. If Jesus had not spoken that promise, there would be no future. But because He DID speak it, the future is unstoppable.
5. The Great Commission Is Proof the Church Will Stand. Matthew 28:18–20 is not just a mission — it is a guarantee. “All power is given unto me…” — The Builder has authority. “Go ye therefore…” — The church has purpose. “Teach all nations…” — The church has reach. “I am with you alway…” — The church has presence.“…unto the end of the world.” — The church has a future.
Jesus is with us unto the end, then the church will be here unto the end.
A. Church, brothers & sisters and all, if Jesus had not said, “I will build My church”, we would have no gospel, no hope, no future, and no reason to gather. But He DID say it. And because He said it, hell cannot stop it, history cannot erase it, and failure cannot undo it. The church is not standing today because people got it right — it is standing because Jesus is the Builder. And if He is the Builder, then our future is secure, our mission is unstoppable, and our hope is unshakable.
6. Ezekiel 6:8 “Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries. 9 And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a wh***ng after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. 10 And they shall know that I am the LORD, and that I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.”
A. Here’s the core truth of the prophecy: Even when judgment comes, God always preserves a remnant — His people return to Him. Israel had drifted into idolatry — today’s Church drifts into spiritual substitutes. In Ezekiel’s day, the people didn’t reject God outright; they replaced Him with idols, high places, and self‑made religion.
B. Today some Churches often do the same: Replace prayer with programs—Worship with entertainment—Holiness with convenience—Commitment with comfort—Scripture with opinions—Mission with maintenance. Ezekiel’s message is not about statues — it’s about hearts that wander. God says in verse 9: “I am broken with their whorish heart, which hath departed from me…” That is the heart of the prophecy.
6. God always preserves a remnant — even when the visible Church struggles Verse 8:“Yet will I leave a remnant…” This is the hope for your church, my church, and the Church worldwide. A remnant is: The ones who still pray. The ones who still believe. The ones who still gather. The ones who still repent. The ones who still love the Word. The ones who still carry the mission. Are part of that remnant?
I will close for today and finish this message next week. God bless all, Brother Ben Matthews

Brother Ben Matthews

One of my favorite things about the Bible is realizing that the story doesn’t end at the resurrection and ascension. The resurrection wasn’t the end; the ascension marked a new beginning. It was God’s opening chapter (Matthew 28) for the greatest mission the world has ever known.
v10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me…...v 18 Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Our MESSAGE: If Not for Jesus Building His Church…Matthew 16:18—28:18–20
1. The Honest Reality: People Hear most Everything Wrong With the Church. Today’s world is loud about: Church failures, Hypocrisy, Scandals, Divisions, Leaders falling, Christians fighting, Churches closing. People say, “The church is dying.” But Jesus said, “I will build My church.”
Those two statements cannot both be true.
2. The Question That Changes Everything. Where would we be today if Jesus had NOT said, “Upon this rock I build My church”? Think about it:
A. There would be no gospel reaching the nations. Matthew 28:19–20 shows the church is the vessel of the Great Commission. Without the church, the gospel stops at the tomb.
B. There would be no hope beyond death. Matthew 28 begins with the resurrection. If the church does not carry that message, the world stays in darkness.
C. There would be no discipleship, no teaching, no truth. Jesus said, “Teaching them to observe all things…” Without the church, truth becomes opinion, morality becomes chaos, and hope becomes myth.
3. The Church Has Failed Many Times — But Jesus Has Never Failed Once. People talk about what the church has done wrong. But they forget: The church didn’t rise from the dead — Jesus did. The church didn’t give the Great Commission — Jesus did. The church isn’t the foundation — Jesus is. The church isn’t the builder — Jesus is. The church isn’t the protector — Jesus is. The church is imperfect. The Builder is not. We will continue this message next week: The promise that secures our future.
God bless all, Brother Ben Matthews

Devotion October 7, 2026

Closing message on prayer. “And it came to pass, that as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” (Luke 11:1) I can teach you about prayer — but I cannot pray for you. True prayer must come from your heart. I will give you a clear, strong way that honors God, and not me.
Why Jesus Didn’t Tell Them to ‘Repeat After Me’. When the disciples said, “Lord, teach us to pray…” Jesus did not say: Repeat My words exactly. Memorize this sentence. Say it the way I say it. Instead, He gave them a pattern, not a script. The Lord’s Prayer is a framework, a blueprint, a model — not a formula to recite mindlessly. Same with John. John taught his disciples how to pray, not what to recite. Why? Because God listens to hearts, not speeches.
A. I will give you my spiritual thoughts: I can teach you the principles of prayer. I can show you the pattern Jesus gave. I can explain the heart behind it. But when you talk to God, the words must come from your own heart. Jesus didn’t give His disciples a script — He gave them a way of approaching God. Prayer is not repeating someone else's words. Prayer is opening your heart before your Father.
B. Scripture to Support: Matthew 6:7 (KJV) “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do…” Jesus warns against empty repetition—He teaches prayer must be real, sincere, from the heart—It reinforces why He didn’t give them a memorized script.
C. It’s time for me to finish this message of prayer. Jesus taught His disciples to pray — but He never told them to repeat His prayer word for word. John didn’t either. Why? Because real prayer cannot be copied. It must be born in your heart. I can teach you the pattern, the principles, and the purpose of prayer — but only you can give God your heart. And when your heart speaks, God listens.
I’ve open my heart and shared my God given spirit about prayer with you.
Please read and please share with anyone.

Again, my God given thoughts are mine, and I’m sure you have yours. God bless all, Brother Ben Matthews

Brother Ben Matthews continued message on prayer.

“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:33-34) That cry is one of the most powerful prayers ever spoken in Scripture. "For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God." Jesus prayed for the forgiveness of every person whose sin contributed to His crucifixion — which is all of us.
A. He died unto sin once — Because Jesus death was enough. Hebrews 10:12 says He offered one sacrifice for sins forever.
B. He liveth unto God — His resurrection proves the payment worked. Jesus rose again because: the Father accepted the sacrifice—the debt was fully paid—sin’s penalty was satisfied—death’s claim was broken. Jesus resurrection proves no one will ever have to die again for sin — because the payment was accepted.
Luke 23:46 says: “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.” This is Jesus final prayer before they crucified Him, He dies. Not whispered. Not mumbled. He cried with a loud voice — meaning: He wanted everyone to hear it. He wanted it recorded. He wanted it preached. He wanted it remembered. This is not a cry of defeat. It is a cry of trust, surrender, and victory.
1. “Father…” — Relationship, even in suffering. Even while hanging between heaven and earth, rejected by men, surrounded by mockers, Jesus still says Father. He teaches us: Pain does not change God’s identity. Suffering does not break relationship. Prayer is still the language of sons and daughters. When life hurts the most, you don’t stop praying — you lean into the Father.
2. “Into Thy Hands…” — Total trust. Jesus is saying: I trust You with what happens next. I trust You with what I cannot see. I trust You even when I feel abandoned. The hands that formed the world… The hands that wrote the law… The hands that guided Israel… The hands that protected Him as a child…Jesus places His entire being into those hands. This is the ultimate prayer of trust.
3. “I commend my spirit.” — Surrender, not defeat. The word commend means: to place something carefully—to entrust something valuable—to hand over something precious. Jesus is not losing His life — He is giving it.
He is not being overpowered — He is offering Himself. He is not collapsing — He is finishing His mission. This is the prayer of someone who knows: “No man taketh my life from me… I lay it down.” (John 10:18)
What can I take from this message today. Jesus prayed at the cross — not just in the garden. He prayed 34 times in the KJV-NT, maybe more. Jesus prayed in His darkest hour, for you and I, and not control. Sometimes prayer is not asking God to change the situation — it’s asking God to take you through it. Prayer is trust; Faith is not seeing — our faith is surrendering. God bless all!
At this time, I have not pinned a word, I'm still studying for October 7.

Devotion September 23, 2026

Brother Ben’s continued message on prayer.

James 5: 13-17
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

The majority of this message will be based on the heart of James 5:16 — What Does It Really Mean?

1. “Confess your faults one to another…” This is not about confessing sins to be forgiven — God forgives sin (v.15). This is about humility, honesty, and unity inside the body of Christ. When saved men & women walk in openness instead of pride, prayer becomes powerful because: There is no pretending—No hidden bitterness—No broken fellowship—No spiritual isolation—Confession clears the channel so prayer can flow.
2. “… and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” It is relational healing, emotional healing, spiritual healing, and community healing. James is teaching: Healing comes when the saved carry each other’s burdens before God. I’m sure you already live this in church ministry, jail ministry, assisted living, and with your own family - lifting others up heals them and heals you. Again, healing comes when the saved carry each other’s burden before God. God does the healing, your doing His work on earth.
3. “The effectual fervent prayer…” Two words matter here: Effectual — prayer that works, prayer that is active, prayer that is in alignment with God’s will. Fervent — prayer is that of a clean heart, alive, earnest, persistent, not casual or cold. This is prayer that refuses to quit. Prayer that has faith in it.
4. “…of a righteous man…” This does not mean a perfect man. It means a man who is: Saved - Walking with God - Honest before God - Clean in conscience - Trusting Christ’s righteousness, not his own. Not perfect, but walking in the light, serving faithfully, loving deeply, praying sincerely.
5. “…availeth much.” This means: It produces results—It changes situations—It moves Heaven—It pushes back darkness—It opens doors—It brings healing—It releases God’s power. James is saying: When a righteous man prays with sincerity and persistence, Heaven responds.
When children of God walk honestly with each other, pray for each other, and live righteously before God, their prayers carry divine power. Fervent prayer from a clean heart moves the hand of God. Brother & Sister, Your prayers matter. Your prayers carry weight. Your prayers move Heaven. Your prayers change lives.
We will continue with prayer, God Bless all B Ben Matthews
