We are a chapter of LiNK (Liberty in North Korea) devoted to raising awareness about the North Korean human rights crisis to the UC Berkeley community.

🎙️ LiNK will be hosting Professor DARREN ZOOK, who teaches Political Science and Global Studies at UC Berkeley, for a special speaker event on daily life in North Korea!
Professor Zook is the only faculty member to have visited North Korea twice, so he has many stories to share regarding what it’s like to experience the country from a foreign scholar’s perspective. During the talk, you’ll be able to see Professor Zook’s own photos of the country, and an extremely rare physical copy of an English dictionary of international law used in North Korea. There will also be a Q&A session afterwards — see you there!

📣 NEXT MONDAY, we are hosting our biggest event of the semester at MLK Stephens Lounge!!

✅ The event will feature two guest speakers, both North Korean defectors, who are now leading new lives in South Korea as college students and Advocacy Fellows for North Korean human rights: Rose Jang and Hannah Oh.

⚡️ Hannah is studying Electrical Engineering, and is working on developing strategies for increasing information access in North Korea.

🏠 Rose is an Architecture major, and for her final project she designed a memorial to honor North Korean human rights.

❤️ They’ve both studied hard to share their stories in English, so please come to hear all about their incredible experiences and vision for the future of North Korea.
