Will you support Bennington Fire & Rescue on their mission to raise money for youth in need?

Twelve firefighters are participating in the Mustaches for Kids Omaha fundraiser, growing some impressive facial hair to benefit Youth Emergency Services (YES), which supports vulnerable youth throughout the Omaha metro.

The fundraiser is in its final three days, but there's still time to donate and make a difference. Read more about the effort, hear from participating firefighters, and check out the "photos" the department submitted when asked for mustache pictures.

After dropping their opening game Friday night, the Bennington Premier 14U Blue baseball team battled back with five straight wins to capture a tournament championship over Memorial Day weekend.

The road to the title included a dominant perfect game, a semifinal revenge victory over the team that handed them their only loss, and a hard-fought 9-7 championship win over the KC Old School Ducks.

Coach Tim McDermott praised his team's resilience throughout a weekend filled with challenges: "Dealing with adversity is a nonstop conversation. Well adversity was thrown at us all weekend and the coaches were proud of how they handled it. We were mentally tough."

🏆 STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆

The Bennington Badgers are bringing home the Class B Boys Golf State Championship!

Adding to an incredible day, Austin Jochum captured the individual state title, finishing as the top golfer in the state.

Congratulations to Austin, his teammates, and the entire coaching staff on an outstanding season and a remarkable accomplishment.

Downtown Bennington was packed with chrome, classics and community spirit on Sunday as the annual GEARS Car Show returned with record participation. 🚗🔥

More than 200 vehicles lined the streets for this year’s event, bringing together car enthusiasts from across the area while supporting local charitable causes.

From restored classics to custom builds, the show highlighted not only incredible vehicles, but also the friendships and community connections behind them.

Multiple area agencies responded Wednesday morning after a small aircraft made an emergency landing near Blair Executive Airport. Officials say the pilot, who was the only occupant onboard, was not injured. The incident remains under investigation by the FAA and Blair Police Department.

Students in the Bennington community were identified as needing reliable access to meals this summer, and local organizations quickly stepped up to help.

The Bennington Public Schools Foundation, Bennington Community Food Pantry and Bennington Women’s Club have partnered to launch a Summer Food Program providing weekly breakfast and lunch meal bags for students throughout the summer months.

The community response has already been overwhelming, with donors helping the program reach its initial fundraising goal in just a short time. Organizers say donations are still welcome to help support additional students and sustain the program into future summers.

Bennington Fire & Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on N 148th St & Redick Ave. Crews from Irvington and Omaha are providing mutual aid. In the midst of the emergency, firefighter Riley Snoderly, who was driving by, stopped to assist before first responders arrived, demonstrating the kind of neighbor helping neighbor spirit that makes Bennington special.

Crews worked quickly to contain the fire and protect nearby homes while ensuring all occupants were safely evacuated.

Residents are reminded to avoid the area while crews continue their work and to use caution around emergency personnel and equipment.
