This fall we’re highlighting our ministries during both worship services, and there are so many meaningful ways to get involved at St. John’s. We encourage you to explore a group or ministry where you can share your gifts.

Last Sunday, Sharon introduced our Prayer Shawl Ministry, which has grown into our Hooks & Needles Ministry. This talented group of women knit and crochet blankets, lap robes, prayer shawls, hats, scarves, baptismal blankets, and more. If you know someone who could be blessed by a prayer shawl, please stop by the gathering area and take one. Many items are also donated to COPE, YES, Children’s NICU, Project Harmony, and other community partners.

Hooks & Needles meets on the first and third Thursdays from 1–3 p.m. at the Lighthouse (the parsonage building next door to St. John’s). These ministries operate entirely on donated yarn and supplies, often supported through Thrivent grants. If you have yarn or crochet supplies to share, you’re welcome to drop them off in the church office.

This Sunday, our congregation will share in a special quilt blessing. We will bless the quilts made by our St. John’s quilters as well as more than 60 school kits assembled for Lutheran World Relief. The quilts will be displayed and prayed over before both the quilts and kits are shipped out to be shared with communities in need around the world.

🗓️👋 Decluttering? Donate to the St. John's Youth Garage Sale! (Plus, PIE! 🥧)

If you have items you'd love to get off your hands, we will gladly take them! Our youth group is hosting a garage sale next weekend in the fellowship hall.

All funds raised will directly support our youth attending the 2027 ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis! ✈️⛪

🥧☕ Shopping Fuel: We will also be selling delicious pie by the slice during the garage sale! Come find a treasure and enjoy a treat.

When: Anytime from now until Thursday, Sept. 24

⚠️ What we CANNOT accept:
No clothing
No large furniture items

There are many ways to help our neighbors here at St. John’s, and keeping our community warm is a great place to start!

Next week, St. John’s Women in Action is hosting a coat drive. All collected items will be donated directly to COPE to support families in need.

What we need:
Coats, jackets, and sweaters (gently used or new)
New socks and underwear

How to help:
Check your closets.
Wash any clothing items you plan to donate.
Drop them off in the gathering area anytime next week!

Rally Sunday is this week! Join us September 13 as we resume our two worship services: 8:30am Traditional and 10:30am Contemporary.
Sunday School is back from 9:40–10:25am for ages 3 through 8th grade.
Adults, we’ve got something for you too—an engaging Bible study in the conference room between services. Come enjoy coffee, conversation, and community.
Can’t wait to see everyone as we begin a new year of ministry.
