🦕 MEET BENNY! 🦕

Tuffy Badger has adopted a Dino and is going on a Bennington Adventure! Did you know that Bennington Public Library & Community Conference Center has kicked off summer with an Adopt-A-Dino Adventure and is encouraging you to Unearth a Story with Summer Reading?!

You can adopt your very own Dino and take them on an adventure around our community! Various Bennington Parks and Landmarks are listed for you to take your Dino and learn more about Bennington. Partnered with the Summer Reading Program, you can earn tickets towards an end of summer prize drawing!

Follow along on Thursdays for Tuffy and Benny’s Expeditions Around Town. You can guess where we are for a little prize drawing of our own.

⚾ FREE Storm Chasers Tickets from the Bennington NE Chamber of Commerce!

The Bennington Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Omaha Storm Chasers for a Community Night and they're giving away FREE tickets to our community!

🎟️ Each of these tickets admits 4 people for FREE!

Congratulations, BHS Grad, JJ Sund!

JJ transferred to Bennington his Senior year and the timing was JUST RIGHT because his Mentor Bob was ready to be rematched with a High Schooler. They hit the ground running last fall and it was like they had known each other forever. Playing chess, building with legos, and just chatting. Bob tells us walking with JJ in the halls of BHS is like "walking with a celebrity". Everyone knows him and everyone says 'Hi, JJ!". Bob even attended JJ's home Unified Track Meet and cheered him on for Senior Day! Connections like this are one in a million! JJ had this to say about Bob: "Bob has impacted my life by being a good role model, and was always there when I need it".

After BHS, JJ plans to participate in the Adult Life Skills Program with Bennington Public Schools and attend Metro Community College, studying to be a Veterinary Assistant!

We are so glad you joined our team to finish out High School, JJ and we can't wait to see what you do next! 💙

🎉Congratulations to these awesome Matches for hitting 2️⃣0️⃣+ meetings this school year!

TeamMates of Bennington has a goal to reach a minimum of 🔟 match meetings per semester and we even had 6️⃣ Matches reach 30 or more meetings!🎉

We’ve kicked off our Summer Pen Pal program and to our surprise our very first note to come in was from a Mentee! Typically Mentors are the first to take advantage of this opportunity, so this was FUN! 💙

Reminder of how you can participate in our TeamMates Pen Pal service!

Pen Pal Instructions:
1. Take a set of Pen Pal postcards.
2. Write your match a message on the postcard.
3. Deliver your postcard to the little Red Mailbox at the BPS District Office.
(Address: 11620 N. 156th ST. Hours Monday-Friday 9a-4p)
4. Megan will mail each postcard to the appropriate recipient.
5. Repeat until August 7th. (Match Meetings will resume September 8th)

To honor our Core Values of Safety, Integrity and Trust, ALL postcard communication will be monitored by TeamMates of Bennington staff. Our little Red Mailbox will be checked three times a week. Pen Pal service will run June 1st- August 7th.

Last Wednesday the Sund Family joined us for a TeamMates takeover, serving at the Bennington Community Food Pantry! We unloaded boxes, stocked shelves, helped patrons shop, carry out and even assisted with the Summer Lunch Program! We had so much fun and want to encourage YOU to volunteer, donate and follow along on their page to see any updates/immediate needs.

If you are in need of summer meal assistance, please visit their page and see how you can sign up.

Special thanks to Bennington Public Schools Foundation and Bennington Woman's Club for helping meet families where they are and fulfilling a need during summer break. 💙

Bennington Food Pantry is open to the public Wednesdays from 3-6pm and Saturdays 9am-12pm. Everyone is welcome, no questions asked.

Congratulations BHS Class of 2026 Graduate and TeamMates Mentee, Brooke!! Brooke plans to attend Doane University studying Business and Leadership. Brooke earned two Bennington based scholarships, from Bennington Public Schools Foundation and TeamMates of Bennington.

Brooke has been matched with her TeamMates Mentor, Allison since 2018 and had the following to say about her experience:

How has your Teammates Mentor impacted your life?

My TeamMates Mentor has impacted my life by giving me advice and helping me see things in a different way. They shared their experiences and lessons, which helped me understand how to handle challenges and make better decisions. Hearing their perspective made me think more about my own goals and what I want to achieve. They also showed the importance of working hard and staying positive, even when things are difficult. Overall, their guidance helped motivate me to keep improving and believe in myself.

Would you recommend TeamMates Mentoring Program to a friend?

I would recommend the TeamMates Mentoring Program to a friend because it gives students someone they can talk to and learn from. Mentors are there to support you, encourage you, and help you think about your future. It’s also a good way to build confidence and have a positive relationship with someone who cares about your success. Overall, it’s a really helpful and supportive program.

TeamMates of Bennington is a PROUD Member of Bennington Community Theatre’s Character Club! We love seeing our Mentees showcase their talents on the stage. This weekend’s production of The Addams Family was enjoyed by many… even a few Mentors were there to see their own Mentees!
