The Israelites were characterized by their propensity for complaint. Despite divine intervention and deliverance, they frequently expressed dissatisfaction with their circumstances. This human tendency is not uncommon, and our own grievances often revolve around three core themes: comfort, safety, and individual justice (whether personal or restorative, distinct from advocating for others). While advocating for justice on behalf of others can be perceived as a noble endeavor, if such advocacy devolves into mere complaint without tangible action, it risks becoming self-indulgent.

While divine patience with our complaints is evident, a rigid stance on eliminating all forms of complaint can approach legalism. Instead, we are encouraged to alleviate the burden of complaint by cultivating profound trust. This radical trust serves as the primary remedy for dissatisfaction.

Am I walking in the radiant light of Jesus' presence, unencumbered and free to receive the abundant life He so lovingly offers, or have I unintentionally settled into a comfort zone that compromises the fullness of His divine plan for me?

That’s my wife, Linda Darr, in the turquoise top—pictured here at the Jesus Festival last weekend at Charlie Park.
Linda is an amazing woman who loves Jesus deeply and pours her life into others every single day. Over the more than 50 years we’ve been together, she has inspired and ministered to countless women. She disciples, encourages, and serves with a full heart—and many of you have been blessed by her in personal ways.
But there’s one thing she doesn’t always do well… she doesn’t take time to care for herself.
As someone who loves her dearly, that concerns me.
So I have a small favor to ask: if you know Linda, would you take a moment to send her a quick message or note? Just a word of encouragement—reminding her that she is loved, appreciated, and that taking care of herself matters too.
I think it would mean a lot to her… and to me.
