In the sixties, the government began taking over forms of welfare that, for generations, could have been carried largely by the Christian community. Instead of stepping further into sacrificial service, many Christians became increasingly shaped by the American Dream—“you can be anything you want, follow any road you choose”—rather than by Rabboni Jesus, who calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.

As Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote in The Cost of Discipleship (1937):
“When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.”

Today, Christians steward 52% of the world’s wealth. There is no reason anyone should go uncared for.
Yes, political and social systems contribute to the problem—no argument there. But the deeper question remains: What about you?
What about your community?How are you helping your neighbor?
How are you bringing the Kingdom of God near?

And who is your neighbor?

Answer: Everyone you touch, hear, or see for the rest of your life.

Jesus said:
"You are the light of the world—so shine in such a way that people glorify God because of you."

You are the salt of the earth—so bring flavor to life and preserve what is good.

If Christians became true Followers of Jesus rather than cultural participants in Christendom, we could embody “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done” in ways that bring life to those crying out for hope. We could spread the Kingdom of God into this lost and hurting world.

And it begins tomorrow—when you step out your front door.

Thoughts on Matthew 24-25
What can I say that has not already been said about this chapter . Chapter 24 and 25 represent the culmination of the most important event in the history of mankind. It begins with the final fall of humanity , the moment the God of creation bowed to the will of sinful human being . I effect He was saying , "not my will but thine be doen" however God is a god who turns tragedy into triumph , destruction into recreation, devastation into a new beginning. His last words echo the voices of the angels announcing the birth of Emanuel "God with us" . Now we see Emanuel triumphantly resurrected to new life , his last words frame his command to us to bring heaven to earth. To live out in our lives the teachings of the greatest Rabboni. The yoke of the Rabbi becomes a mantel as he commissions us to carry on His mission to make disciples to bring heaven to earth with the promise he will be our Emanuel to the end of the Earth. Praise God, Praise God, PRAISE GOD!!
