Saw this on a FB post and found it to be a great awareness piece ....
People assume remarriage erases grief. That somehow loving again means you stop loving the person you lost.
But widowhood doesn’t work like that.
I didn’t stop missing them because life moved forward. I didn’t lose the memories, the years, the prayers, the laughter, the pain, or the pieces of my story connected to them. Grief doesn’t disappear when healing begins.
Remarriage after loss is not replacing someone. It’s learning that the heart is capable of carrying both sorrow and joy at the same time.
I can deeply love the person standing beside me now… while still honoring the person I once held as they took their last breath. Those things are not enemies.
Widowhood changes you forever.
And the people who have walked this road understand that love after loss is never about “moving on.”
It’s about surviving what you never wanted… and thanking God that somehow, after all the heartbreak, He still allowed your heart to beat again.
