Father’s Day weekend is the perfect time to head to the cabin, cottage, campground, or hit the road in your RV. Before you settle in and enjoy the outdoors, take a few minutes to make sure your "home away from home" is just as safe as your primary residence.

✅ Test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms
✅ Check fire extinguishers and make sure everyone knows where they are located
✅ Inspect propane connections, grills, and camp stoves for leaks or damage
✅ Keep exits clear and have an escape plan for everyone staying with you
✅ Never leave campfires, grills, or cooking unattended
✅ Ensure generators are used outdoors and away from windows and doors

Whether you're spending the weekend in an RV, lakeside cottage, hunting camp, or family cabin, a few simple safety checks can help keep your Father's Day weekend safe and enjoyable.

From all of us at the New Hampshire State Firemen's Association, have a safe and happy Father's Day weekend!

Many of the devices we use every day such as phones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, and more are powered by lithium-ion batteries. While convenient, these batteries can become a serious fire hazard if they are damaged or charged improperly.

✅ Always use the charger that came with the device or one approved by the manufacturer.
✅ Replace damaged or frayed charging cords immediately.
✅ Stop using a charger if it only works when bent or positioned a certain way.
✅ Never ignore signs of overheating, swelling, or unusual odors.

A few simple precautions can help prevent fires and keep your family safe.

Governor Kelly Ayotte has signed House Bill 59, strengthening penalties for assaults on firefighters, emergency medical care providers, and law enforcement officers.

Our first responders put their lives on the line every single day. They deserve every protection we can give them when they’re out there serving the public.

This new law sends a clear message: attacks on our heroes will not be tolerated. This is a significant win for public safety in New Hampshire.

CONCORD, NH – This week, Governor Kelly Ayotte signed the following bills into law:
