This past weekend, Shift 3 had the opportunity to visit the Leary family's annual summer tradition with our mini touch-a-truck. 🚒☀️

We were able to sneak this in between the 22 calls we responded to that day, making it even more rewarding to spend some time with our community despite a very busy shift.

Thank you to the Leary family for inviting us to be part of another great annual tradition. We truly appreciate the continued support from our community and always enjoy opportunities like this to connect with everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the next event!

Crews worked together this morning to accomplish multiple training goals. Not only did members participate in hose advancement drills through a custom built prop, they also had opportunity to assist other members working on their engine operator packets to run the truck and pump. Bedford Fire has a very comprehensive training program for our driver operators. Each driver operator needs to complete a full packet on each piece of apparatus to become a full driver operator. These packets include drive hours, full inventories, equipment familiarization, and a full test at the completion. Great work by all!

Members made time in yesterday's heat to work on some hose drills to simulate challenges in residential structures. Activities included advancing lines through a box enclosure, victim removal, and advancing the hose to the 2nd floor. Training in various conditions helps prepare crews to work in any situation.

This week, our members joined the staff and students at Peter Woodbury School for their annual Egg Drop competition. Students designed containers housing a single egg that was dropped from the bucket of Tower 1 at a height of about 70'. The goal was for the containers to protect the egg from breaking. Congrats to this year's winners!!
