“We didn’t know Guidelight existed, and now I think every special needs family should have at least one weekend away. Everything they coordinated for that weekend was so purposeful, and the purpose was to show us love. We are so thankful. On days when I feel a little more jaded, I revisit the memories of our time at the Retreat and all I learned there. We’ve been white knuckling it on our own for so many years, but we were reminded that our strength comes from God and from the help of our community. It was the first time we’d been away with other special needs family. Instead of being depressing, it was the opposite. It was standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the strongest men and women I’ve ever met. I was so proud to be a part of that community and very encouraged.
