Lanka Lions Sports Club - Portland Oregon Lanka Lions Sports Club (LLSC) is Oregon based sports club operating mainly around Portland OR area.

Initiated as a Lanka Lions cricket team in 2000 and expanded to several other sports of interest including but not limited to Soccer and Rugby.

A tremendous team effort saw Lanka Lions Braves secure a thrilling 3-wicket victory over Old Monks United in the PMOCL T15 Cup Quarterfinal.

OMU posted 109/4, with Tilan Abeyrathna and Roshan leading the bowling attack with 2 wickets each, while Harsha, Lakmal Hettiarachchi, and Dimuth Atupolage kept things tight and applied pressure throughout the innings.

The chase wasn’t easy. At 41/4, the Braves were in trouble, but the middle order responded brilliantly. Roshan Perera explosive 43 off 26 balls turned the momentum in our favor, while Tilan Nayakasinghe delivered a valuable all-round performance, backing up his 2 wickets with a fighting 19 runs when the team needed stability most. Important contributions from Lakmal Hettiarachchi and Dimuth Atupolage also helped keep the chase on track.

In a tense finish, skipper Harsha and Kumuditha Ratnayake calmly guided the team home, with Kumu continuing to run hard despite carrying a knock, helping the Braves reach 110/7 in 14.5 overs with one ball to spare.

This was a true team winβ€”contributions with both bat and ball, resilience under pressure. This victory wasn’t about one hero β€” it was pure team effort. Every player contributed, every Lion fought for the man next to him. That’s the spirit we carry, the fighting spirit that defines the Braves.

Although he didn't get the opportunity to bat on his Elite debut, Ravindra showed his class with an unbeaten 44 off just 32 balls.

I had the privilege of watching from the other end for most of the innings, and it was an absolute pleasure to see him build his innings. He remained composed throughout, picked the right moments to attack, and played with the confidence and maturity of a seasoned player.

The Elite team would like to give a big thank you to Kabir for helping us out last Sunday.

After already grinding through 30 overs for the Braves, Kabi stuck around to support the Elite. He sat through 15 overs of our batting, keeping everyone entertained with his usual banter and love for the game.

When it was time to field, Kabi gave it everything he had, just as he always does. His energy, effort, and willingness to help made a real difference and played an important role in our win.

Kabi, thank you for always showing up when needed!

Lanka Lions Elite played their first game of the 2026 season.

It felt good to see old Elite faces with a few new ones. It was incredible to watch what happens when you have Ravindra, Kasun, Hemantha, Tharindupriya, and Susith on one cricket team.

The bowling effort was sublime, though a few obvious rust spots were evident on the field. Because the Elite bowling is so strong, the Elite batsmen were able to take their time and mark a comfortable win for the team.

The true star today was Uditha, whose last name, Athapattu, has a rich cricketing pedigree. What we love about Uditha is that he always has a β€œjust enjoy the moment” mindset and gives his best. He does this brilliantly by making fun of himself, and if someone else makes a mistake, he is the first to say, "it's okay, bro", which relaxes everyone around him.

Today, he was fielding around the fly slip position. Early on, the Gujarat batsman repeatedly sent the ball toward fine-leg, where no one was fielding, and Uditha was responsible for getting the ball. Everyone on the field was exhausted just watching Uditha’s relentless effort. Every time, he gave it his all! He ran as fast as he could, picked up the ball, and threw it at the keeper. Efforts like that make the rest of the team do better; it makes his teammates realize they all have to step up. While the scorecard does not reflect Uditha's efforts, he played a big role today.

All this is to say, thank you, Uditha. You are a great teammate and an Elite!
