Help sponsor the spay and neuter of a brother and sister pair of dogs having puppies together? We are trying to raise $532 to cover their surgeries ✂️🙏🏼

Elijah and Elisha are a pair of Oregon dogs (littermates) whose owner is disabled and could not afford the surgeries. These littermates recently had a litter of puppies together and we saw the puppies on a rehoming group seeking new homes. We asked what the plan was for the parent dogs to be spayed and neutered? No plan.

There was also a raging flea infestation in the home that had mom dog almost bald 😥

When we come across these situations in Oregon rehoming groups, we always try to offer assistance with spay and neuter to prevent more dogs being born with no plan.

Yesterday, both parent dogs were spayed and neutered with the help of our veterinary partners at RADPetsCorvallis.

Here are the services rendered:

• Spay $293

• Neuter $250

• Required rabies vaccines $44

• Post operative cones $25

• Bravecto flea medicine to protect the dogs from fleas for 90 days and hopefully stop the infestation $120

The owner was able to contribute $200 to the invoice with the small rehoming fees collected from the puppies.

If anyone can help us with the remaining $532 charge to our credit card that would be greatly appreciated. Spaying and neutering Oregon dogs whose owners are struggling to afford it is important to us.

This is one of our lost ADOPTED dogs near Oatfield Road and Webster Road in Milwaukie. If anyone lives in Milwaukie or Gladstone, Oregon area please keep an eye out. Dog is 30 pounds and wearing a collar and ID tags. We just need a sighting. No not chase or try to catch her. Text the number in the flyer with location/date/time/direction dog is traveling.

This is also a reminder to please choose your dog sitter carefully. Seasoned dog sitters with experience ensuring your dog is supervised and safely contained is so critical. The dog sitter you choose can mean life or death for your dog. We really hope Gloria can be safely reunited with her family.

ADOPTED! Enzo came to us from a very rural California shelter where dogs often end up staying for years with no adoption interest. We immediately noticed his eye looked injured and got him into our vet. He had been suffering with ulcers in his eye and dry eye for likely years 🥺

We got Enzo started on antibiotics to heal the ulcers and daily eye ointment to treat the dry eye which will be a lifelong condition for him. He also had an injured and infected toe that needed treatment. After addressing his medical needs, we got to work trying to find an adopter willing to give a home to a dog with a chronic medical condition.

Thankfully, Enzo pretty quickly met his new mom who was not put off by daily eye medication. Enzo is feeling so much better and now has a bright future ahead of him! 🩵

ADOPTED! Winslet came to us from Oklahoma where our rescue partners there see puppies growing up in foster or being euthanized regularly. We were happy to offer Winslet a spot in our program to give her the best chance at a better life.

Winslet is such an easy going, sweet-as-sugar, girl! Winslet met her new family over the weekend and it was a great match! She has a new doggie brother to show her the ropes too. Happy new life Winslet! 🧡🩷💜

ADOPTED! Our “Fuzzy Friends” litter consisting of Wallaby, Squirrel, Mink, Gerbil, Kitten, Chipmunk, Red Panda and Hamster are finally off with their amazing new parents! 🙌🏼

This litter of 8 came to us so neglected. They had lived outdoors under a house, were covered in hundreds of ticks and fleas, and had internal parasites sucking the literal life out of them (see last photos.) We have no doubt they would not have survived without rescue intervention. One puppy even spent his first night with us at the emergency vet being stabilized to the tune of $2,000.

But after 3 weeks safe and cozy in foster, multiple medications on board, and some good food, these babies really bounced back. This was a huge lift for our team but the end is so rewarding to see. And we spayed mom dog who remained with her owners (the owners were not willing to relinquish mom dog unfortunately.) Have the very best lives little ones! 🌟✨

ADOPTED! Jeanette was rescued with her two littermates who had been dumped in a field at about 4 months of age back in April this year. Jeanette was a puppy growing up in a California foster home and we offered to bring her to our adoption program. Her sisters had already gone to other rescues and she was still in foster with zero interest.

Luckily, within a couple weeks of arriving to us, Jeanette met this lovely couple who decided to offer her a spot in their home. She’s fitting in so well and they adore her already. Happy new life Jeanette! 🖤

A retractable leash on a brand new foster or adopted dog is absolutely 100% setting the dog up for failure. Failure can be the dog getting lost, the dog getting injured or killed, or you getting injured.

Retractable leashes are the equivalent of trying to walk your dog with dental floss.

They give you inadequate control and ability to manage the dog.

If the scared or reactive new rescue dog (that you don’t know and who hasn’t bonded with you yet) flips out, you have one hand on a flimsy plastic handle. Your second hand cannot grab the dental floss “leash” to control the dog.

Then, when you fumble and drop the big plastic handle, the handle “chases” the new, scared rescue dog and puts them entirely into flight mode to escape the clattering plastic handle that’s trying to get them.

Our rescue gives every adopter and foster a sturdy 4’ - 6’ regular leash. Use it. PLEASE do not swap the dog into a retractable leash because you think it’s superior. It’s not. You could cause the death of a dog with a retractable leash because it escapes you and runs into traffic to be hit and killed.

Retractable dog leashes are NEVER safe to use on brand new rescue dogs. Use a regular leash or a slip lead.

We’ve had our adrenaline dump too early this morning with a scared adopted dog being on the run and dodging traffic since 9pm last night. All because of a retractable leash. Dog is safe thanks to a Good Samaritan who let her in their house.

Winslet is such a nice puppy! Heeler mix, not crazy energy, 3.5 months and 14.5 pounds. Crate trained and a total doll baby. Oklahoma stray puppy found on the side of the road.

Fostered in Molalla, Oregon with other dogs, cats, bunnies and gentle kids.

Can anyone see Dupree? 👀

Tomorrow marks one MONTH in rescue for Dupree and it’s like he’s invisible 😔 He’s had ZERO adoption inquiries- not one in all the time we have had him. It saddens us seeing puppies grow up in rescue. Could you share his post please? 🙏🏼

When we picked Dupree from Oklahoma, we thought surely his bright coloring, eye patch and smile would land him a home. He’s such a cute kid! 💙
