Agave Dogs Rescue was founded in 2017 after seeing constant pleas on social media from shelters and rescuers in Texas and other Southern states for help with their dog overpopulation crisis. Dogs dumped on the side of the road, dogs minutes from euthanasia unless a rescue tagged them, dogs enduring years of hardship and neglect with owners who didn't or couldn't care for them. We knew the Pacific

Northwest had an extensive demographic of amazing dog lovers willing to offer homes and their hearts to dogs in need. Our Mission:
Agave Dogs rescues adoptable, homeless dogs from areas overwhelmed with pet overpopulation and finds them loving, permanent homes in Oregon and Washington. We assist dogs at risk for euthanasia in high kill shelters and strays found on the street by out of state rescuers. Since we posted earlier this week that puppy girl, Glizty, had five applications come in and all fell through, two more applications have come in who also cancelled before even meeting her 🙈

We don’t mean to “dog” anyone but it feels like we’re “chasing our tails” at this point 😉🙃

Glizty is a sweet 6 month old, 28 pound pup from Oklahoma. The kittens in her foster home love to instigate couch wrestling matches with her which she gently obliges! She’s crate trained, shy but bonds closely with her person and loves to play with her stuffed animals 🧸

Is there anyone out there for Glizty that is committed to the idea of adopting and ready?

We even lowered her adoption fee 💸

Can you help us cover spay surgeries for these two 9 month old female dogs impregnated by their brother dog? They are both Oregon dogs who were in desperate need of assistance.

Both dogs were being given away due to their owner going to jail. Spay aborts were safely performed yesterday to prevent two big litters of large breed puppies coming into this world with no homes in the midst of a dog overpopulation crisis.

Both dogs went to Cool Breeze Ranch Rescue in Prineville, Oregon. Agave Dogs Rescue agreed to cover the surgery bills to get both of these girls spayed for the rescue who had room to accept them.

Each dog was $622 for spay + required rabies vaccine for a total cost of $1,244 💸💸

We’re a little ho-hum for Glitzy… over the weekend she had four nice applications come in for her, to the point we took her off the website and didn’t market her. But all four apps fell through so this puppy girl is starting all over again in her search for a loving home.

Glitzy is about 6 months old and 27 pounds. She’s sensitive, gentle, good with the cats in her foster home and loves to share a nibble of her foster mom’s quesadilla 🤤

Glitzy would love a calmer home with another dog friend! Nice dog friends really perk her up. Crate and potty trained. Kids ages 12+ only because Glitzy can be a little startled by energetic kiddos.

ADOPTED! Ellis showed up at the home of an elderly couple in Oklahoma, just another stray roaming. They could not keep Ellis but wanted to get him help. Ellis was taken in by one of our rescue partners in Oklahoma. No owner came during his stray hold.

Ellis was so fortunate to meet this kind couple who applied for him soon after his arrival and he quickly landed a loving home. Congratulations Ellis! 💚

ADOPTED! Sirus was a puppy in an Oklahoma shelter where adoptions are few. His mother was euthanized and he was likely also up for consideration. Yes, puppies in our nation’s shelters are growing up in the shelter, not getting adopted and being euthanized.

After learning what had happened to Sirus’ mom, an angel of a foster mom stepped up to take Sirus into her home and get him placed with a rescue. We were happy to help Sirus out of his unfortunate circumstances and on to a better life in Oregon. He met his new dad last week who was thrilled to offer Sirus a stable, loving home. Happy new life Sirus! 🧡

ADOPTED! We saw Joseph the senior Yorkie being sold on an Oregon Nextdoor group. He had been kept in a bedroom in the home and hadn’t been allowed outside in over a year. His nails were so overgrown they were twisting and he was tripping over them when he walked. His mouth was in such a bad state of dental decay that his gum tissue was growing a large mass inside his mouth in response to the chronic infection. We could not leave the owner’s home without this sweet old man.

So many of you donated to help us pay for Joseph’s dental and he had that surgery last week with 25 teeth being extracted. With a medical makeover then a groom by Canine Design Grooming, Joseph is feeling like a million bucks and is finally ready to go home with his new mom today! Happy golden years Joseph! 💛

He loves playing with other dog friends! And he’s working hard on his house manners because we told him that’s super important to prospective adopters.

Welcome to rescue Enzo! 🩶🩶🩶

Enzo arrived to us from California this morning after enduring 2.5 months in a crowded shelter with an injured eye 😔

We were told by the shelter, “It’s always been that way and the vet said it is ok, there is nothing wrong.” Unfortunately, Enzo’s eye is not ok and it’s sad to us he’s spent the last 10+ weeks with an eye infection or injury.

Enzo goes to our vet first thing in the morning to get the eye examined, likely a fluorescent stain done, and hopefully just some eye medication to treat the issue.

If you can help with a donation towards his veterinary care towards the injured/infected eye, we would super appreciate it!

Enzo is such a loving boy and we are so happy he’s out of the shelter and settling into his foster home. He’s about 1-2 years old and just 46 pounds. Good with other and cats! He’s fostered with kitties and has been appropriate so far.
