We are no longer able to sponsor a trap, neuter, return, and maintain program for Bayonne residents. who are feeding outside cats. The city of Bayonne will be administering a city funded program, please contact the city for more info.. We will give instructions on trapping and maintaining the colony after the surgery. We assist with finding homes for the adoptable cats and kittens through adoption days and Petfinder. Foster homes are needed.

Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV) is a highly contagious, potentially deadly virus that can infect cats and kittens in utero.

The virus can be spread through infected bodily fluids, fleas, and from a pregnant mother to her unborn kittens. The virus is incredibly robust and can survive for many months both indoors and outside. Without proper disinfection it can also spread via shared bedding, bowls, or on the clothes or hands of people handling an infected cat.

Information on the infographic:

Clinical signs:
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Dehydration
- Depression/lethargy
- Loss of appetite
- Painful belly

Treatment:
Diagnosis is made by a veterinarian based on clinical signs, white blood cell count, and/or an FPV test. There's no specific treatment for FPV, but veterinary care is crucial. Seriously ill cats require intensive supportive care, such as intravenous fluid therapy, anti-nausea medications, and nutritional support.

Recovery:
Recovery depends on a variety of factors, such as age, general health status, the severity of illness, and how quickly veterinary care is instituted. Once recovered, affected cats usually have no chronic effects from infection, except in cases of cerebellar hypoplasia that can occur with in utero infection.

Prevention:
Vaccination is vital to prevent this life-threatening infection. The FPV vaccine is included in a combination vaccine (often called “FVRCP”) that also protects cats against two other common viruses: feline herpesvirus 1 and feline calicivirus. This vaccine is recommended for all cats, including cats that don't normally go outdoors or interact with other cats.
The current recommendation for kittens is a series of vaccines administered every 3-4 weeks beginning at 6-8 weeks of age and continuing through 16-20 weeks of age. Cats older than 16 weeks that have never been vaccinated or have an unknown history should receive one dose and then a booster 3-4 weeks after the first.

I'm working to find homes for the many abandoned cats that call Eagle Lake , PA, home. The winters are harsh, most residents leave for the season and finding feeders is difficult. These bonded brothers are Fred and Barney. If anyone can take them to foster or adopt, please reach out to me. I will be closing up myself by the end of this month, and would love to get these boys into a home.

I did not want to post this but after having to put another poor sick cat to sleep because of neglect, I felt it is necessary. We have been working with an animal cruelity/neglect case for awhile now. This so called animal advocate has neglected her cats, does not feed them herself, claims they are old and all have feline leukemia and nothing can be done for them. This is a lie. We have taken several to the vet with severe upper respiratory , loaded with fleas, bartonella, ear mites, . Negative for leukemia, and young, not old.
Vito was rushed to vet by Dania Garcia and had to be euthanized because he was suffering. Dania paid his bill which was over $400. We have been paying these vet bills because "owner" will not. We have been screamed at that we are wasting money. She has not paid a dime to at the very least put the cats that are truly suffering with no hope of recovery, to sleep. Instead they die on the floor. We need help, we need fosters to get these cats to safety, we need donations to get them all vetted. We still have a senior boarding at the vet. She is sweet and loves to cuddle. We can't let her go back to this home. She has taken in cats from anyone with a sad story. Phyllis Melito and I put many of those cats into loving homes. Adelaide Laurie has donated, money, and supplies to help her and the cats . Now we are all the enemy. Truly sad

Truth !

Let me say something that some people may not want to hear…
🚨 RESCUE IS NOT A COMPETITION. 🚨
If you're in rescue and you're worried about being better than another rescue, saving more animals than someone else, getting more attention, or making sure everyone knows what you did…
You're in it for the wrong reason.
There are no winners in rescue. There are no trophies. No medals. No prize for taking the hardest case or having the most resources.
There are simply animals who are scared, sick, abandoned, injured, or forgotten — and they need people willing to help them.
Another rescue helping an animal doesn't take anything away from you. Another person getting recognition doesn't diminish what you've done. There is room for all of us when the goal is truly the animals.
Support each other. Share resources. Celebrate the lives saved — even when you weren't the one who saved them.
Because rescue isn't about who gets the credit.
It's about who gets saved. 🐾❤️
And if you can't genuinely be happy that an animal was helped simply because someone helped it, then maybe it's time to ask yourself why you're really doing rescue.

This can't be said enough. Help us to help the animals in need through fostering and donations. Bayonne is in crisis!

We had our 2nd TNR meeting this afternoon with the city and members of Furvana. We learned that the City was able to secure $25,000 thru attrition. And thanks to Alex Alton of APurrfect JC, and others who pushed to have Hudson county included,we have the opportunity for an additional $10,000 in County funding!
Thank you everyone who contacted Kenny Kopacz at my request to make the vote unamous. I very excited for the progress I'm seeing. I know people are not going to believe it until it actually happens, but please give this council and Mayor a chance to prove themselves. There is alot involved here and they want to get it righ.
