🍬 Thank you Douglasville School Revitalization Project for allowing us to be a part of the UNITY DAY 2026: Trunks of Treats event!

🤖 The City vehicle was TRANSFORMED into a trunk of yummy treats, and Mayor Brown had a blast speaking with residents and handing out candy to community members in attendance. There may have even been a little dancing!

🧡 This Unity Day event was a wonderful reminder of what makes our community so special—the joy and love felt when neighbors come together in fellowship and celebration.

🍂 As we head into a season of events, activities, and holiday joy, we look forward to seeing our streets, sidewalks, parks, and public spaces filled with neighbors, friends, colleagues, and families coming together in gratitude, celebration, and community spirit. From one gathering to the next, these shared moments help strengthen the connections the future of Bay Minette is being built on.

✨ Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success!

🤠💛 LIGHT OF THE CITY IS CELEBRATING UNITY DAY! 💛🤠

Dear Light of the City Parents,

We are excited to share that our Light of the City students will be participating in Unity Day on Tuesday, October 20th!🎬🎉

Unity Day is a wonderful opportunity for children and families throughout Bay Minette and North Baldwin to come together, have fun, make memories, and celebrate UNITY and community!💛

🤠 OUR LIGHT OF THE CITY THEME IS TOY STORY! ⭐

Our students will be representing two beloved Toy Story characters: Sheriff Woody Pride🤠 and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl!🤠❤️

To help our Light of the City crew look the part, please have your child wear a yellow or white shirt and blue jeans on Tuesday, October 20th.

Light of the City will provide:
🤠 Cowboy hats
⭐ Sheriff badges
❤️ Red bandanas

Since our students will be coming directly from school, we will have the costume accessories ready for them to wear when they participate in Unity Day.

We are so excited for our children to represent Light of the City and be part of this special community celebration!

Let’s saddle up, have some fun, and celebrate UNITY!🤠💛

📌 Please see the flyer for the event details.

We are so grateful for the overwhelming response to our tutoring and enrichment program this year! We are blessed with the opportunity to partner with our local schools and families as we pour into the educational growth and development of our students. 💙

While our current tutoring sessions are at capacity, registration remains open! Families are encouraged to register their children, and students will be placed on our waiting list. As spaces become available, families will be contacted and students will have the opportunity to participate in our tutoring and enrichment sessions.
Thank you for entrusting Light of the City with your children. We look forward to serving even more students throughout the year! 🌟
Keep registering—we look forward to welcoming your child when space becomes available!

✨Site Director Spotlight✨
The one and only.. Barbara Brown!

“I am truly grateful and excited to return to Light of the City as Site Director. I began serving at Light of the City in 2010 and continued until 2022, when I had to take medical leave following a ruptured brain aneurysm.

I retired from the Baldwin County Public School System after 22 years as a science educator. I served for five years as a Science Specialist with the Alabama State Department of Education before retiring in 2013.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving Light of the City as a Tutoring Leader, Enrichment Leader, Summer Camp Director, and Site Director. My love for young people has always been at the heart of my work, and I consider it a joy and blessing to return to a ministry that means so much to me. I look forward to working with our youth and helping them learn, grow, and reach their full potential.”

Welcome back!!
