The Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy helps to preserve land and water quality across the Saginaw Basin. The Conservancy has 83 conservation project sites. This includes nine SBLC owned nature preserves, 71 privately owned conservation easements, and four outdoor recreation sites access sites. New hats! New patches! New stickers and sticker sheets! We will have all this and a lot more at our booth at the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region Riverside Art Festival this weekend! Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 11-4 in Downtown Bay City! Come see us there!

Zachary and Trevor had a great day out this morning volunteering with our partner, the Kawkawlin River Watershed Association for their annual river cleanup! We are so grateful to have so many incredible people come out and pitch in to make our community just a little better!

Come and visit us on June 13 and 14 at the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region Riverside Art Fair, and we will have new sticker sheets to hand out for free to all our littlest fans (and fans of all ages)! Many thanks to our talented friend and John Glenn student, Averi Bucec, who created these awesome illustrations! Those water bottles and laptops won't decorate themselves! Come down and see us!

*UPDATE: The Bay City Government is lending a hand, and between us the mess be cleaned up in the next couple of days, thanks to our friends at the City Parks Department!*

As if Mondays are not challenging enough! Whoever dumped a load of broken-up concrete on the Middlegrounds, we hope it saved you a little work, and we are happy to set aside the hundreds of tasks we have here at the SBLC to clean up the mess for you! 😐 All jokes aside, what a bummer. We will get it cleaned up, but we are a small nonprofit working overtime to bring high-quality public land to the community! If you ever find yourself unable to get rid of junk or construction debris, please don't become part of the problem! Call the City of Bay City, which has an excellent waste management transfer station. (And before everyone says "put up cameras," we appreciate the thought, and we do have many cameras on SBLC conservation lands, but when you have 6,000 acres under protection, you just can't cover every inch!)

New SBLC stickers coming in hot today! We will also have this on two different baseball hats for the summer, and it will be available as a patch, too! We also have a new t-shirt in two colorways, plus a collection of our old favorites. We want to help you tell the world that you care about nature! Come see us at the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region Riverside Art Festival on June 13 and 14 in Downtown Bay City to be the first to get your hands on our new line of merch! More details soon!

It has been ten years since we completed the playground at Discovery Preserve! This little cabin has stood the test of time and has been enjoyed by many, many children (and adults) along the way! Next month, we will be tackling a comprehensive update to the playground, with new features and fresh amenities. Have you ever visited the playground there? Many thanks to Dow GLBR for the funding to improve conditions and access for all at this preserve. This update will allow even more youngsters to experience nature close to home!

So this is what $15,000 dollars worth of seed looks like when we get it in our office! This seed will be used for a huge wildflower prairie restoration project. While we can't know for sure how many seeds there are, we have a very rough idea, given the weight of these bags. Take a guess...how many individual seeds do you think are in these three bags? Closest answer to our estimate will win an SBLC T-Shirt!
