The PPQG Program committee provided a terrific presentation yesterday at our Guild meeting: Dawn Cook Ronningen began with an English Paper Piecing class in the morning, then at 1:00 presented a trunk show of ‘Charm Quilts’ many of them antiques from the late 1800s.
The concept of a ‘Charm Quilt’ is that it is composed of one patch (hexies were popular), NO duplicate fabrics, and contain 800 to 2000 pieces! Most were hand-pieced. (That’s a very brief explanation.)

After our snack and Business meeting, member Show-and-Tell was animated and lively!

Dawn Cook Ronningen is the author of Antique American Needlework Tools (Schiffer, 2018) and Sewing Rolls, Needle Rolls and Huswifs (2023). Her collections include antique quilts, embroidery, antique and vintage needlework tools, textiles and other related antiques. Dawns books, classes, lectures and trunk shows include rare examples from her collections. She is a maker, collector, historian and instructor living in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Great attendance for our Guild meeting June 10!
Program was the ending and reveals of our UFO Challenge. Many members accomplished beautiful finished projects.
After snacks, we held our regular Show-and-Tell. I imagine we will see many of these quilts entered in this year’s Crow Wing County Fair!
