Yesterday, on the way into Bastrop, I noticed how pretty our gateway sign looked with the beautiful soybean crop behind it. So, I stopped and made a picture. Two ladies stopped thinking my car was broken down. They were going to help me. The gateway is mowed by Bo Pepper and the soybean crop belongs to Boyd Holley. The property belongs to ULM and the Mardis family. Special thanks to all that donated to KMB for the black and white paint job last year. I really LIKE!

Here we are at the Chevron Station on Crossett Rd. awarding them our Thumbs Up Award.

For those of you that remember Green Bros. Dairy, this is the former site of their office building. Due to the building needing major work on it to ever be occupied again, the building was recently brought down. I can still remember milk being delivered to our back door.. beautiful memories. Special thanks to the Green family for all of those memories and for helping to keep Morehouse beautiful.

Hello KMB supporters!!

At the KMB May meeting, Steve Fuller said he planned to put up red, white, and blue string lights on the Courthouse light poles before Memorial Day. Due to the need to replace many of the string lights, the lights have not gone up. The total cost for replacing the string lights is $580. A generous organization has donated $250 to help. So, $330 is needed to show patriotism on the square for Memorial Day and for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution.

In the interest of showing the patriotism that Morehouse Parish is capable of, please mail a donation for the string lights to Keep Morehouse Beautiful, PO Box 178, Bastrop, LA 71221 or drop your donation by Freckled Frog; 101 North Washington; Bastrop, LA 71220.

Thank you,

Vicki

Hello FB Friends!

Great news to share!

47 tons of debris were hauled out of Morehouse Parish by Waste Management as a result of Free Dumpsters April 22, 23, and 24. This breaks our event record (42 tons) for tonnage hauled out of Morehouse Parish since the Police Jury began paying for the dumpsters. Remember this does NOT include vegetation nor metal. Since 2011, 917 tons have been hauled out of Morehouse Parish as a result of Free Dumpsters.

Taking care of God's creation, Planet Earth.

Congratulations to this group of community-minded citizens who made history recently when the first Bastrop City Wide Prayer and Cleanup took place. KMB members Lillian Jeffries and Pastor Johnny Green organized the event and welcomed everyone. After being led in prayer by Deacon Ernest Lee, Bishop Bing Moore, Pastor Johnny Green, Carol Lord, and Mayor Mark Moore Sr. , the group broke-out into church groups. They, then, went to the streets each church had pledged to keep clean to pick up litter. Plans are to organize another prayer and cleanup event in October.
