Our club was a proud gold sponsor of the Community Wellness walk and Family Health Fair held today at Citizens Park in Barrington. It was great to see many organizations come together to support health and wellness. We had some fun Halloween crafts for the kids to do and were available to talk about the good work our club does in our community and in the world.

October is Rotary’s Economic and Community Development Month.

Strong communities grow when people have meaningful opportunities to use their skills, earn a living, build businesses, and create better futures for their families.

You can be part of that work in surprisingly practical ways. Buy from a local business. Mentor an entrepreneur. Share a useful professional skill. Support financial literacy or workforce training. Listen to what people in your community say would help them succeed.

Small opportunities can travel a long way when they allow people to create opportunities for others.

This month, find one local effort helping people build sustainable livelihoods and ask how your time, knowledge, connections, or support could make a useful difference.

Our 5th annual Wellness Walk will start at 12:00pm around Citizens Park and followed with games and activities, entertainment from Bob the DJ and Matt “the Bubble Wizard” Pagels, animal therapy teams from SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program, and booths from a variety of local organizations and resources that support mental wellness, healthy lifestyle, family and community connection, youth and parents. Making sure that the seniors in our community are well cared for is important to the Barrington Rotary Club. Volunteering to serve a delicious Oktoberfest lunch after their BINGO game is a great way to partner with Bacoa!
