The Barrington Land Conservation Trust preserves natural open spaces. For more information, visit www.blct.org.

Founded by volunteers in 1979, the Barrington Land Conservation Trust has preserved hundreds of acres of natural open space in the town of Barrington, RI. The organization remains powered by volunteers who help us to fulfill all aspects of our mission: land preservation, land stewardship, education and advocacy. We offer volunteer programs for adults and for students age 14-18, as well as family programs which allow young children to get involved. We offer outdoor environmental education programs in collaboration with the Barrington Public Schools, and we host an annual Learning Series in partnership with the Barrington Public Library featuring environmental experts, authors and artists.

We loved partnering with the Barrington Garden Club yesterday for Barrington's Day of Caring in collaboration with the Town of Barrington, RI. A huge crowd came out to plant native seeds in the meadow at Osamequin Nature Preserve, clean up litter, maintain trails and collect food for TAPIN. Great to see our friends from St. Andrew's School and lots of community members who stepped up to help. Thank you, all!

Register for October Rights-of-Way Monitoring!
Save The Bay - Narragansett Bay has partnered with the Coastal Resources Management Council of Rhode Island and Rhode Island Sea Grant on an effort to help keep Rhode Island's shoreline open and accessible to all! From Saturday, October 10 to Monday, October 19, Save The Bay volunteers will visit all CRMC-designated rights-of-way to the shore to check for barriers to access and identify sites in need of maintenance. Register here: https://volunteer.savebay.org/rights-of-way/

You choose the site, visit once on your own time during the monitoring window, and fill out a short Shoreline Access Report.

Salt marsh migration has become an extremely local issue in coastal towns that are watching sea level rise in real time. The Land Trust is working with representatives from the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, the Town of Barrington, RI and others to identify strategies that will preserve this important part of our ecosystem.
