Grabbing national news, not loudly enough, is a recent CNN report on an online universe the news organization titled "r**e academy."

The painful and vile reality is a terrifying look at the online environment in which our young boys are being raised as men into. (link to investigative report in the comments)

You may have read statements and social media posts by organizations in town allegedly supporting the effort to create more housing and believing that improved affordability is necessary.

Between the Barrington Republican Town Committee's recent statement and the Barrington Residents "for" Appropriate Development's focus on opposition, it all seems like lip service, at best, to this crisis.

In a message posted today, one of these organizations actually said that every new home in town is "a burden" to town. That would make many of our existing neighbors burdens. It would make many of the people who have poured blood, sweat and tears into this community a burden. Fortunately, these misguided organizations are wrong. New neighbors bring opportunity.

Where is the support or advocacy FOR the housing the claim to agree is needed?

Should new developments be scaled appropriately to align with the town's capabilities? Yes.
Should we reject new opportunities that don't? No!

We should work with those who want to build in town to help them succeed financially by providing useful and complementary developments.

That is how a community can actually support appropriate development. Let's build some homes for people who need homes!

"Scipio survived the war, earning his freedom. He is buried in the Allin Yard Cemetery in Bay Spring. The Allin family's well-maintained monuments stand at one end of the cemetery. Scipio's headstone stands at the other, surrounded by several unmarked stones; perhaps others who had been enslaved there.

The Allin family's story has been well documented within the town’s history.

The Purim story has a concept for this, too: zachor — remember. On Purim, we read the whole Megillah aloud. We recite every word because the act of remembering is itself a sacred act. A story untold is a story that will one day be entirely forgotten. A community that forgets its history loses something essential about itself. Reciting every word, including the parts of the story that remained dormant for too long, is how we truly honor our past."
