Remember this great driver

On February 18, 2001, Dale Earnhardt Sr., considered one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history, dies at the age of 49 in a last-lap crash at the 43rd Daytona 500 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Earnhardt was driving his famous black No. 3 Chevrolet and vying for third place when he collided with another car, then crashed into a wall. After being cut from his car, Earnhardt, whose tough, aggressive driving style earned him the nickname “The Intimidator,” was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead of head injuries.

Due to the immediate increase in Covid cases over the last couple of days, the Barnegat American Legion has decided to cancel it’s BINGO start up for January 3. There will be no Bingo until further notice. We will inform you when we feel it is safe to resume BINGO.

On Saturday the Mariners Lodge 150 will be hosting a Wreaths Across America ceremony at the Barnegat cemetery, they have asked us to join in and we accepted. We are asking our members and guest to come out for the ceremony. It will start at noon on Saturday, December 18. Most members will be meeting at the Legion at 11:30 tomorrow. You can also meet us at the cemetery before noon.

Bingo rehearsal is this Sunday, November 28 at 1pm. If you would like to volunteer to help run BINGO for the legion please stop down on Sunday at 1pm.
BINGO will start on Monday, January 3rd and will continue to be played every Monday after that. We need people to man the doors on Mondays from 5pm to 7pm. We also need people to help when we are calling BINGO from 6:30pm to 9:30pn. We also need help in the kitchen from 5:30 to 7:30.
The more people that volunteer the more we can spread it out over the Mondays.
If you can’t make it on this Sunday we will also hold another rehearsal on Sunday, December 19 at 1pm.
If you can’t make it to either rehearsals but would like to volunteer reach out to Jim Brown at 7326916131.

Good evening, Kim Germano who works for the Barnegat School department is requesting to have veterans over at a school and walk around with the kids. It will be on either November 11 or November 12. Veterans Day ceremony will be on Veterans Day at 11am at the township gazebo. After the Veterans Day services there will be food available to purchase for $5. If you are a veteran it will be free.

The Pole Barn Bar (Doc’s Place) will be closing on Monday. This Sunday will be he last day of parting outside. We want to go out with a bang. We have two major events going on at the same time.
Oktoberfest and our Weekly Tailgate party.
Stop on down and enjoy some German food and watch some football.

Wildwood Convention sign up sheet is at the legion pole barn bar or inside bar. The sheet will be available until December 1. If you don’t sign up by December 1, I will consider that you are a no go for Wildwood and removed you from the list. Wildwood Convention hotel rooms are from Wednesday, June 8 to Sunday, June 12. Three night minimum stay. I will be calling you in January to see how many night you will be staying.
Room assignments list will be displayed in the canteen/bar in January. Once the list is put up you can start paying for your room.
If you never attached the conversation and stayed at our hotel but would like to do so please print your name and phone number on the second page if the sign up sheet. I will contact you in January if rooms are available. Remember we convert back to the 2018 and 2019 list for room assignments. Any questions please contact me.

Oktoberfest and NFL Football. Come on down on October 24 and enjoy some Authentic German food. Don’t forget we also have the NFL package and now we can watch all the NFL games on our many TVs. This is a fundraiser to help with the expense of expanding the pole barn bar. So please come down and enjoy the day and also help the post at the same time.

Legionnaire Joseph Leo passed away and his funeral services will be held at Layton’s Funeral Home located at 250 Lacey Road, Forked River from 9 to 11:30pm. Our sincere condolences go out to the Leo family.
